Get Mullen off NOW!!!

Something like if the defending player catches the ball on the full, they get a free kick into touch, and the set of six starts from there might change the game plan of a few teams.
Sounds a bit too much like union to me i have no prob with the bombs infact i think the only thing wrong with bombs is that theyve now protected the kicker in the air imo you should be allowed to smash him as soon as he touches it no matter how high he is and the same with the general play kicker i hate these rules.

The diffence between our bombs and most other teams is most other teams have a more running style fullback then Kurt. Kurt's ball playing means he can't put huge pressure on our attacking bombs like a Slater, Hoffman or Stewart can. We simply don't consistently have people contesting bombs, our bombs are hoping the fullback will make an error and that was not a smart game plan when kicking to Slater.

I rate Mullen when hes going well.. most of us do, and thats why we have persisted with him for so long. But really, at the end of the day whenever we have had a big game the guy folds. He has not ONCE that i can rememeber ever stood up for us in a crunch game with something on the line. I dont think he can handle the pressure. It guts me cos he has the potential, he just cant get his head together. I would rather an average halfback that stands up from time to time. I, too, have seen enough of him. Im hoping for a Wayne Bennett miracle but im not too optimistic that he can even get Mullens head right.

He was great in the 2006 semi vs Manly, at five eighth ... making a 90 metre run off a missed penalty from Orford, and kicking the winning field goal.

How far backwards has he gone since then?

If he was still making plays like that in the big games, then this thread wouldn't exist.

With a guy called A.Johns in the number 7 jersey next to you, it takes a lot a pressure off a young pair of shoulders, and he played naturally not forcefully - Like he seems to these days.

Matty Johns did wonders for him at the start of the year. Bennett will hopefully help his constancy otherwise.

RIP Mullen.

hahahaha funny you mention that...how backwards has Orford gone since then? Ah the times they are a changin'

I like that we bag Mullen for putting 10 bombs up to Slater, but at the end of the game, Stig finally took a kick, and what did he do? He put a bomb up for Slater, and then the set after that, Gidley took a kick, and what did he also do? He put a bomb up for Slater

I know the cutout ball he threw to Uate is to be kinda expected from your half, but it was a pretty nice play from Mullen none-the-less.

I'm in another country...didn't even watch the game...haven't been able to watch a game for weeks - but....
I'M STILL SICK OF JAMESGOULDS' WHINGING! SHUT UP ALREADY!

sj18 Dont know if you have noticed but most of us are whinging about Mullen he just doesnt have the mind set to be a half back and the trouble is when we do put a 1/2 back or 5/8 in they think mullen should still be the dominant player .Thats why when roberts and stig were there together they looked like and played like a halves combination .Infact i dont think weve had a halves combination that looked as good as those 2 did since Andrew retired .In my opinion i havent seen mullen be a halves COMBINATION with anyone . Mate i think 1 year under bennett and roberts will xxxx all over mullen hes allready stronger mentally he laughs off his mistakes and gets on with it ive never seen mullen do that he just goes to pieces every time .

Added after 8 minutes:

oh and if you had been able to watch a game in the last couple of weeks then you would know why were all whinging.

moments that make me realise I'm a knights supporter:
Mullen harmlessly chipping the ball to Slater in the in goal for a 20metre tap
Costigan dropping a sitter with a 2 on 0 overlap and Melbourne scoring
Costigan and later Mullen, both being called for forward passes that fair dinkum get let go every time Melbourne throw them.
Gidley leaving the field to take a bomb and backflipping into the in goal causing a drop out when he could have stood in the in goal (like slater would have) and got a 20metre tap
Mcmanus grounding the ball on Cronks foot.
McDougall getting penalised for (can someone enlighten me on what he was penalised for)
Kurt decides this would be the perfect day to miss every conversion he gets. (the second kick broke like a putt at Augusta)

Can't beat Melbourne like that but I was proud of the way they fought and had some momentum in the last 20 minutes. The try before half time killed us.

Thats right it is and people would whinge about you at work if you were doing a Sxxt job do you think hes doing the job that hes being paid 5 or 6 grand a week for i dont. Hes probably on more than that acctually.

I've said it before...if Bennett can turn Mullen into the player Knights fans have believed/wished/hoped he could be, it will just about be Bennett's greatest achievement as a coach

Most of us have a sickie if we have a runny nose. Mullen has fronted up for work(his job is a bit more brutal than sitting behind a desk or holding a stop go sign) carrying injuries that require surgery. Anyone that thinks footballers get paid too much should think of the worst injury you have sustained at work and then have a look at Matt Hilders head and he was prepared to not have a day off. Anyone playing first grade NRL deserves every cent they can get imo.

Not only that, every time you run out it could be your last. Look at Simon Dwyer, Zeb Taia (nearly left), Brent Tate and Tuaki. All of them had serious injuries that could have ended their careers and they'd never be the same, physically again. If you think they could get another job somewhere, if you think about it these are professional athletes. Some of them would have devoted their lives to the sport, including not going to uni so they could join a club.

Anyone playing first grade NRL deserves every cent they can get imo....... Not if theyre not doing the job theyre not point in case Cory Paterson close to $5000 a week but he wasnt doing the job and hes gone sacked , Ciraldo if you think he deserved his money then your 1 of the very few , Kafusi wasnt doing the job when we signed bennett so gone , Henry Bennett didnt even think he could do the job sacked ,and the rest too and mate i was a warehouse manager for harveys had 2 sickies in 5 yrs never had a lunch break or any break for 500 a week take home and did it with 2 shoulders that needed surgery so dont make me cry for poor mullo , besides if he didnt think he could do the job with injury then for the good of the team he should have pulled out. How many players have we got rid of because we didnt think they were playing to the standard they should have been for the money they were getting .
