Finals Week 2 vs Warriors - 4:05pm Sunday 20th of September - Eden Park

We are definitely in a premiership window for the next few years at least (luck with injury would help of course).

Holbrook has done a fantastic job.
I'm loving the attacking football we are playing compared to previous years.

Exciting times ahead.

We played the Fins in Round 18 and beat them 13-12 and there is no reason why we can’t beat them again.

We have more big game experience, strong spirit and resilience. I think we are the dark horse in this competition.
Sometimes with this stuff it's about which team has more strengths pointed at the other team's weaknesses.

Pompey & Leautaia were two of the worst players on the field. Herbie was by a country mile the best player on that field. Bostock up there too.

The Phins have a real lack of yardage from their middles but they're tough & aggressive in D.

The Knights aren't the best matchup for the Phins. We're more equipped to handle a team where their centre is their key go forward player & key strike weapon than we are equipped to handle, say, Naufahu Whyte.

We did beat Fins but they had many injuries, including Katoa.

In any case, we won't be playing the Dolphins again this year, unless ofc we make it the GF and they happen to be there.

I know but they were missing a heap and the week off is so crucial. If we can beat the wahs it's going to really drain the tank. Would love for us to go over there and put them away early but they are going to be desperate.

We will be desperate too and the Warriors will be depleted because of injuries and the rest of their players look tired.

I remember I'd accidentally booked in to go to a movie during that game, came out and saw we won by a point and was stoked, came onto the match thread here and everyone was saying how terrible we were lol.

That was the time of year when we were winning close games but in the ugliest of fashions. Glad they got us to where we are now though!

Winning games we probably deserved to lose, before we started losing games we deserved to win.

Probably ended up pretty even.

The latter is where we make the top 4 though, imo. A lot of the top 4 win games they probably didn’t deserve to. They don’t lose too many they deserve to win.

Yeah I agree with this … for all the roll on the Warriors forwards had, they didn’t throw too much in the way of attack at the Dolphins. If the Warriors hadn’t kicked those goals, I don’t see them scoring many points from the taps and kick for touches.

Credit to the Dolphins defence of course … but I’m interested to see how they go in week 3, I think the jury’s out.
I was really surprised they took all those shots at goal. I know most of them were gimmes and they do play a more conservative style. However, if they’d put on 2 tries instead they probably could’ve sunk the Fins there with all the ball they had.

Going up in twos against the Fins seems like an invitation for them to start attacking the hell out of you
