Finals Bound

I'm a realist but deep down im always optimistic.

Optimistic view
So somehow we beat Melbourne.

We should beat the dogs and dragons, so that gives us 3 wins

Of late we have a decent record against canberra count that as 4.

We are playing better now then when we played the dolphins last time plus it's in Perth so neutral ground 5 wins.

The sharks aren't going as good as their place on the ladder suggests that's 6 wins.


Reality we win 2 or 3 more games all year

We have only just recently won 2 games in a row since the beginning of last season, and we had a bye week to rest up between those wins, and we are having a realistic discussion about winning 6 from our next 7 games?

I love the optimism. I’m “hopeful” because on paper it’s always possible, however the stats and nature reflect differently as pointed out plenty. Stringing 2 wins in a row for the first time since the start of 2022 might be good for a confidence boost but nothing to really write home about yet given they were against 2 of the worst teams. However, any team on a hot streak starts somewhere and that’s with a win, then two, then three and so on.

Raiders in 5 weeks have had a nice run with less than superior competition with a bye, roosters win, titans win, dragons win and another bye. 10 points in 5 rounds sees them planted nicely at 4. Cowboys have had a HOT run as much as it pains me to say it with the cowboymiester lurking about. 😂 They’ve had 8 straight weeks of success including byes over much stiffer competition! Storm win, bye, panthers win, rabbits win, tigers win, bye and manly win. 14 points at the right end of the year.

You just never know with this team or this game.

Not to mention Ponga is arguably in career best form. Maybe we'll go on a streak to make the finals like we did a couple seasons ago. Not likely though, i just want us to compete in every remaining game and be in the mix, not fall to 15th or something.

They have a pretty good roster and lost most games closely
A bit like us
Would have wished ben hunt left them when we verse them

No, it still relies on clubs above dropping games, but that was an important win. I think the most likely team to drop out of the 8 is the Eels, they have a tough run home.

But Cowboys are above us hitting form so we may need another side to drop out as well. Souths/Canberra probably the other most likely sides I think.
 
If we were going to be any chance to make the 8 we had to beat Melbourne last night and we did.

Couple of teams above us still have a bye up their sleeve but also have some hard games and also play each other so there is a chance.

We need remain grounded after last night's win and prepare mentally you could see them celebrating like they won a grand final so can see how much it means to them but just hope they don't hang their hat on that win and think job done.
 
I'm still not expecting to make the 8, but we can still make some giant strides as a team heading towards next year. One will be next week. Raiders down there. We play like we did last night, right in that one. But in the past we have been flat after a performance like last night. Another really good test for us.
 
I think Sharks are also a risk of dropping out. We play both south’s and the sharks. So need to win those game. We play Canberra at 3pm which I hope is a dry track that’s a good advantage to us. We also have a good record against Canberra.
