English Recruits Watch

I'm watching the game now, Pryce seems to be quite a big talented 5/8.
I wonder what our plan for him next year is?

It would be nice if for their next game on Fox he plays fullback.

Having watched a fair few of his games now, I really do think in the NRL his best spot is fullback, operating with time and space at second or third receiver. When he’s been called upon to steer a side around I haven’t been very impressed. Very passive and gets the ball flat footed a lot without much of a plan. When he’s playing more opportunistically or being brought onto the ball as a runner, he looks way better. He’s been shoehorned into the halves a lot in the Super League because he’s a talented kicker and passer, but those attributes tend to be a bigger part of a fullback’s game in the NRL than they are in the Super League.

It’s not inconceivable that Pryce could start his NRL career as a centre though too. Definitely got the body for it.

I was only think this after seeing his last few games, with his body type and with Miller going strong and KP @ 5/8 Pryce be a pretty good decision at centre for us. Will be very interesting how they go in their first pre season and how early they get over here. They’ll Need time to adjust and have hopefully an uninterrupted preseason.

So many of the best centres are guys only playing there because Tedesco or Walsh or Luai or whoever is already at fullback or five-eighth. In saying that though I think Pryce is a more well-rounded talent than Lachie and should be able to take the spot if his effort and commitment warrants it.

Great game by Pryce, he came off the bench and won MOTM
1 Try
1 Try Assist
Nearly scored a 2nd try but it was stripped out just before he got the ball down (not shown in highlights)

KPP had no highlight plays so no point posting the link

Wigan play Huddersfield this week, I'm placing my bets on Pryce to outplay KPP...

Bounceback season from Pryce so far after he was disappointing last year. Really pleasing to see. It’s not unthinkable that we may be looking at him as a five-eighth going forward after all 😢

KPP’s vibe is a bit more like he’s unhappy to still be in Wigan by the looks of it. Kind of the opposite of Pryce, last year was his best, played about as well as John Bateman and made the World Cup squad, this year he can’t get picked in his preferred spot…

Gone from being good enough for the World Cup squad to a bench or even 18th man spot behind players he's clearly better than. Hard to believe that would be the case if he wasn't leaving.
True, but by the same token Wigan only kept him because they reckon they’re in a premiership window. Not picking one of your most talented players is cutting off your own **** to spite your face (I’m calling Wigan ****heads for not accepting the transfer fee).

I think KPP could be up for a huge off season and be rookie of the year next year. Problem for Pryce will be finding his best position for the club. Hope officials are already talking to him and planning this. Miller is good but might be just as good on wing or centre of 5/8.

I think technically players with a certain amount of prior experience in the Super League are exempt from the NRL rookie of the year award.

Telegraph saying Knights have reached out to Wigan again about getting KPP early. Says Wigan are still "reluctant" so I assume it won't happen.
