Elijah Taylor

Handy player and I like him at lock. Gets through a lot of work, can ball-play and his effort is always there. The sort of player for Brown to bring in while changing the culture of the club.

Taylor would fit that role perfectly next year. Both aren't the best in attack but they are both great defenders. Smith plays with more aggression but Taylor has the higher work rate and can play big minute.
 
Feeney is still our longterm best bet at fullback.
It was worth a try to put him straight into firstgrade in round one, but realistically, it was never going to work out.
He still made mistakes in reserve grade last week, but he also did some very good things too.
To be honest, I've seen Shannon McDonnell, David Seage and that guy Wayne brought down from Qld all play worse in reserve grade than Feeney went last week, and all those guys were fullbacks for years and years before getting a crack at firstgrade.

I hope to see Feeney get another shot at firstgrade by the end of the year, but if not, he should be ready by next year, after 26 games and another off season.
 
I think Tariq will stay (he's pretty much said he'll take a pay cut if he has to). Rochow is the concern but his form lately won't be screaming big dollars from rival clubs until he starts playing better football.
 
Not for mine. If he is so good, he would be in demand instead of looking for his third or fourth Club.

I have never seen Chow's play screaming big dollars, but a good solid workman on his day. No doubt ALL managers scream big dollars for some reason that I can't seem to follow lol!!!

Isn't feeney a half? I hope he goes great at fullback but why is there a Expectation of him to go well, with only 3 games of FB under him?

Because his best attributes are his running game and his passing game - and he is a tall, fast and athletic guy.
He is a crap half because his kicking game and playmaking skills are well below par for a 7, but he has the skills you look for in a fullback, except the ones you have to learn from playing the position.
He'll never be a firstgrade half, but every coach from Stone to Bedsy to Brown to Potter, sees fullback potential in him. He just needs to learn the specialised skills of the fullback.

Fair enough, seems like more guesswork than assumption but hopefully he goes alright. Might take more than one reserve grade season and two preseasons in the position to be an nrl full back but.

If you or I were making this call, it would be fair enough to call it guesswork.
If Mick Potter, one of the most awarded fullbacks in the history of the game and a vastly experienced coach, is making the call, it's a bit more than guesswork.
 
Billy - Not just referring to ryan.berger.56 but the number of Knights supporters (wondering why Feeney was tried at fullback) that don't think there's a chance Brown, Potter etc etc might have a clue what it takes to play custodian is astounding.
 
Feeney had a very much improved performance in reserve grade today.
Having listened to a good broadcast and read a few reports, he was outstanding at directing the defence and very vocal, was tested with both high and low balls from playmaker Luke Kelly and handled them all well and positioned himself well in defence.
On the down side, they used him as the main tactical kicker in the first half, and he was terrible. He also spent a lot of time in the attacking line and knocked on at least twice and threw some poor attempts at cut out passes.
He scored the final try with a good read of the kick.

In short, he had a much improved game this week, especially in the areas we need him to improve, but he probably tried to do too much.

I'd say that's good progress.
