Look at the Jets, they have played 12 games at home this season that included sunday's game:

3 sunday afternoons & 2 twligh sunday games, 1 saturday night & 1 saturday twlight & 5 friday nights

I mean I'd rather play by the Jets scedule then the Knights crap scedule of:

3 sunday afternoons, 1 sunday night, 2 monday nights, 3 friday nights & 3 saturday nights

Here's my 2 cents on the highlighted bold text, and my long winded thesis (I haven't posted on this forum for a while, so I'm happy to be back here):

Not to mention that the 3 Sunday arvo games the Knights had last year were either raining or overcast. Weather also plays a major factor, in regards to crowd attendances (heck, look at the crowd attendances of NSW games in the round when there were those massive floods, gusting winds, torrential rain and inclement weather last year in June). People are more inclined to stay at home and watch the game in the luxury of their tv loungeroom if it is pouring outside, then go out in the cold and bitter, uncomfortable conditions.

Trust me, if we get some clear, sunny 2pm or 3pm home Sunday afternoon matches this year, our home attendance will be up by at least 5,000 more people (per match) than if it was overcast with the potential of rain.

It has been mentioned that certain teams like playing home matches at certain times (eg. Bulldogs love playing on Friday Night). Well, the Knights have and always have been a team that loves their Sunday afternoon football. Everytime I've been to Knights games on a nice Sunday arvo (over the past 12 years), there is more of a vibrant, passionate, and stronger atmosphere than there has been on Saturday Nights (with the exception of a couple of Sat Night games I've been to over the years. The only Sat Night match that would compete with it was the 1999 Newcastle vs Melbourne match, which was absolutely packed to the rafters). I was extremely dissapointed last year, when the NRL decided to have only 2 Sunday matches. Rugby League is traditionally a Sunday game (i'm glad they've gone back to a Sunday day GF this year), and I feel that having only 2 out of 8 day games per round is completely unacceptable. There should be at least 3 (like it use to be in the previous 7 yrs prior to last year) as the minimum, 4 would be perfect.

Day games encourage the parents to bring their children and families to the game. Night matches are more designed for TV (being in primetime). Even in general, I guarantee you, if they increased the number of Sunday afternoon matches, the average crowd attendances would be higher. I guess one match last year which epitomises the point I'm trying to make was the Rd 25 Wests Tigers vs Souths match at Leichhardt Oval. That match epitomised and defined everything about why Sunday afternoon football beats everything. As Phil Gould said before kickoff of that match, "You've gotta love your Sunday afternoon football". That match had a real rugby league atmosphere. It just wouldn't have been the same, had that been on Saturday Night, Monday Night or Friday Night.

Now, I know I've ranted a bit too long and have sorta been a bit repetitive. I understand that the major night matches (including major night matches in other major sports, like Soccer World Cup, Superbowl etc) do have a lot more atmosphere (eg State of Origin. Can you imagine if Origin was played on Wednesday afternoon??????/ AHAHHAHA! It'd be a shocker) and obtain higher TV ratings, as it is in primetime. However, when it comes to Rugby League, first-grade Sunday footballl is here to stay.

PS I would love to see the Sunday 3pm move to a 4pm kickoff, hence the game is live, and also, in the Winter months, the day/night effect (I dunno what it is, but like at the cricket, on a clear night, the sunlight dimming effect and the beautiful sunset occuring in the 2nd half is a tremendous sight).

Yup, you're spot on there. Sunday affer has always been the traditional time for rugby league and still is in the National Leagues over here. All of the National League (NL1, 2 & 3) games kick off at that time. However, now that Sky is to show some of the games live, that might change for some NL1 games.

Also, after work on a Friday, you're more likely to go home and watch rather than go out to the game then make your way home half asleep. On a Sunday, going to a match is a way of rounding off your weekend.

they only drew a crowd of 16000 i heard but i know alot of people who are heading to sydney to see the grand final

According to one of the Sunday papers, the FFA raised the prices for that game and put a lot of people off going to the game.

From what I've read around the place, the FFA like to take a lot of money from the clubs and give it to everyone based on support. They can't get grand final winners shirts out straight afterwards because the FFA needs to approve it and even then, there is no guarantee the Jets (or Mariners for that matter, but who cares about those coastal scum ) will get the lions share of profit from those shirts, as it's split between all the clubs.
