Can make a case for Saifiti though. They both are looking the goods.

Not saying Grant is any good and I'd rather us look at other props over him but if it does happen he'd be as cheap as anything and he gets through more metres and work than half of the guys you named so it'd be a decent signing if we can't get anyone better.

Mate he didn't even start making their starting 17 til about 3 injuries in and then looked disinterested.

Guys a hack, reason he was the first marched out of Penrith.

Buying him would be buying for the sake of buying.
 
There was talk a couple of weeks ago, Chris McQueen is being shopped around. I'd take him over Grant. Chris grevsmuhl or Kyle Turner would do me too.
 
Grant was my favourite prop in the game back when he was in form for Penrith and managed to get into the NSW team. If he got back to anywhere nears his best and what we would pay him we would be a steal. But that's a pretty big IF seeing as the way he was playing at Souths. Speaking of props has anyone signed up James Gavet? Would be cheap and runs hard

Rabbitohs love Turner, they won't let him go for a while atleast.

In Gavet, I'd love to see him here but he's defense is a little suspect and he gives away some silly penalties, but that fit in with our pack well

He missed the first two weeks and played the rest of the season, started in almost half of them. I actually think he plays with a lot of aggression.

He was marched out of Penrith because they were severely overpaying him along with several other players. There's a reason Souths went after him hard. You'd be crazy to not sign him when he's got a huge discount on him.

Saying that though like I said before I'm not saying we should sign him, he'd just be good value for his current price tag IF we can't find anything better than him which is looking that way at the moment.
 
I'm surprised to see that he's only 27. For some reason I thought he was already in his 30s. For the right price he'd be a welcome addition in my book. Props generally peak at this stage in their careers.

I give us very little hope in signing him though and think Brownie will use his knowledge of the Super League to make a play at an English prop we can get on the cheap. Kinda like what the Dragons did with Mike Cooper.
 
More props please. Why do we keep getting backs all the time, we have the smallest forward pack.

The last backs we legitimately signed were Leilua & Anthony Quinn, it's our junior system that churns out the heap of backs we usually have each year. You are right in the fact we always have a small forward pack though. And we never seem to be able to recruit a big body either, always small props.

Walker would be a great addition to our backline, Gagai could go to fullback, but he'll command big money. We need to spend big money on frontrowers & a hooker, not backs.

We also seem to develop all-round/ hardworking forwords Korbin Sims, Robbie Rochow, Zeb Taia, Cory Patterson etc which is great but never get the bit units which is harder to get roll on up front against other teams. I remember the years when Cooper Vuna and Uate were making more meters and making hard ground then our forward pack.

SOUTH Sydney will allow Test centre Dylan Walker to walk away from Redfern immediately if he can find another club for next season.

The Daily Telegraph understands several clubs - including Manly, Penrith and St George Illawarra - have held internal discussions about signing Walker.

The main stumbling block will be whether clubs have enough money under their salary cap for next season to secure him.

One source close to Walker said:

“There are clubs waiting for the signal to start negotiating with Walker.

“Souths will let him go for next for next season should the right club offer the right money.”

A new deal could be reached before Christmas, perhaps even by early next week.

Souths are looking to ease salary cap concerns after this week announcing Sam Burgess’ return to Redfern.

The Walker situation is developing and manoeuvring daily. Walker has been spotted out and about enjoying Sydney’s social scene but there is no doubt he is a player of immense ability.

The Daily Telegraph attempted to contact all three clubs thought to be interested in Walker - without luck.

Dragons coach Paul McGregor and new Manly coach Trent Barrett did not return calls, while Panthers group CEO Warren Wilson is overseas.

Walker has one year remaining on his current South Sydney deal.
Walker’s part in the drug scandal with Aaron Gray won’t deter interested clubs.

The Daily Telegraph revealed Walker’s plight at Souths late last month.

There has also been speculation forwards Chris McQueen and Tim Grant may be forced out of Redfern.

McQueen has been linked to Gold Coast.

Walker’s position is also under scrutiny following the prescription drug scandal. Souths continue to investigate last month’s drug drama which saw Walker and teammate Aaron Gray taken to hospital with an overdose.

The Rabbitohs are being thorough with their investigation into the drugs drama. The club wants to ensure the matter is handled responsibly without a repeat of the messy situation at Cronulla with Todd Carney.

Barrett is a known admirer of Walker and the Sea Eagles continue to look for a five-eighth to replace Parramatta-bound Kieran Foran. Manly’s tight salary cap may have eased somewhat after hooker Matt Ballin signed with Wests Tigers.

South Sydney chief executive John Lee was unavailable for comment.

Just last week though Lee said:

“It is important with your roster that you keep it fresh and you keep if fluid.

“If ultimately that will mean there is some movement well that is no different to how it has been the last few months, players have come and players have gone and in the fullness of time that will happen with every club.”

If he enjoys Sydney's social scene we've got zero chance of signing him.

Also interesting to read the bit about Manly wanting to play him at 5/8. I know he kinda flunked out in his couple of games there at the Rabbits. But with a dominant playmaker like DCE it might work given time.
 
Apparently it's a done deal to Manly.

Now Manly are "making room" by unloading one of their duds. Symonds, Lawrence, Starling or Buhrer. We better not get one of them. I was hoping the days of us signing other clubs scraps while they sign stars were over.
 
If Manly pay half his contract I can live with Buhrer, he's better than Randell. Anything else, no thanks.
 
I'd take Starling on a small contract to bolster up some front row depth. He was impressive for Manly at the back end of the year I thought.
