I think Pearce is a bit undersold. Mostly remembered by how his time finished here. Made us relevant again and those first couple of years he was always one of our best performers, and always had a crack. Got his Origin redemption as well.
Pearce with the current side are cozy in the 8 but yes with Brown and his upside the possibilities are endless, and something I’ll be excited for with all the guys we have locked up over the next few years

Brown's fit with Ponga is a big part of why it was the right throw at the stumps to take.

I guess it’s a bit similar when he was at Parra, he was second fiddle to Moses. We just want him to take that next step, get more involved and I have no doubt he will.
Ponga chokes how many last passes from Ponga go to ground. Brown has that carm head and tries not to win the game every catch of the footy.
Ponga is a great player but doesn't have the calmness to win in the moment and he cant tackle so I am just saying Brown is a better player and he will win us the games.

They are both great players in their own right and complement each other. Saying one is better than the other is irrelevant. They are different players. For our team they make a very good combination.

Yes the term “chokes” is way off the mark. He’s doing more, creating more, so there is naturally an element of risk in his play and “sometimes” it doesn’t work. But how many chances does he create that leads to tries!

I would think history has shown us that nobody can do it in their own. KP did very well getting us as far as he did with what he had around him. I actually don’t see Brown achieving that on his own.
However, what is clear is that they’ll both be even better together than alone. You need multiple very good spine players to win anything. There’s a reason the Storm have always had three

One massive positive that doesn't get talked about enough is Dylan Brown being ineligible for Origin. While rival teams are scrambling to cover the holes left by their halves, Brown is a locked-in starter all winter. Other teams can complain all they want about losing their stars, no matter how dominant Brown gets, he's ours all year round, barring injury.

The perfect halfback:
- Vocal leader & firebrand. Barks orders, drive standards. But also, super composed and cool as a cucumber.
- Brings strike players into the game effectively & doesn’t overplay his hand. Also, comes up with all the big plays and “takes over the game”.
- Smart, high-percentage options with the kicking game, but also nailing the riskier options which get a result for your team when they come off.
- Implements the game plan the team worked on during the week and also goes off the script, takes and nails every “eyes up” play on the table.
Tongue in cheek here obviously but it’s a rare few halves in the history of the game which have been able to wear every hat. Joey, Thurston, Cleary (at NRL level) I would say. Usually you have to settle for a guy who’s closer to one end of the spectrum than the other.
I would also like it if Brown ended the season with a longer highlight reel but he is converting to being a full time 7 on the fly and has rarely had a bad game in terms of week to week KPIs. He’s very composed and controlled, and I honestly do not think there is another half playing right now besides maybe Izzy Katoa and Cody Walker who more effectively creates number advantages and/or an extra yard of time and space for his fullback & other outside men than Dylan.
I always thought he & Kalyn would strike up a great combination because of how effectively he created space for Gutho & Moses in backline movements, but I didn’t think he had it in him to balance that with being the full time first choice general play kicker + keeping up his running game. Because he’d never shown the ability to do it all at once for Parra. But for us, he has been.
Needs to work on his short kicking game along the ground & end of set decision making in the red zone but he really has been way better than I thought he’d be, and I was always on board with getting him. There’s no substitute for talent.
