Dale Finucane

Back to Dale Finucane, I love the guy, but he’s starting to pick up injuries now which is concerning.

I think he might get squeezed out of Melbourne now it looks like Cheese is starting to realise he’s a better lock than a hooker
 
With the club seriously considering dropping $400K on Lodge and the half or million or so it’d probably take to get Gagai, turns out there is absolutely space in the cap to make a competitive offer to Dale Finucane. Close to a million unallocated or possibly more.

Give me Finucane and make him captain immediately and then $200K or so on a journeyman depth outside back like Opacic or Pompey over Lodge + Gagai. All day. That’s how much I don’t want Lodge.

He doesn’t appear as the leader type. Great player, but I think he won’t fix our mess.
 
Looks like O'Brien is interested in Finucane (Tooheys news).
I like him and think he would be a great player and leader for the club.
But how much of the salary cap can a team have tied up in the forwards and be competitive.
Ive read he wants around $800k, so that'd be Friz, Klem and him taking up around $2.5mil. that a quarter of the salary cap in 3 forwards.

He is a better option than TPJ and Lodge.
 
So at the start of the year we couldn’t afford anyone decent and now we’re chasing two SOO representatives?

Which is it? 😂
 
Was trying to work out where the money for both him & Gagai would come from. If we were after Lodge on half his wage looks like we had $400K free. Eddie Lee gone, I’m guessing he was about a $300K player. Pearce pay cut. Then Fitz has been made an offer which includes a pay cut. Would have said at the start of the year we had little money to improve the roster but it looks like the cash is there. Both would be great for us.
 
Team would look pretty good with those 2 and a couple of re-signings.
Also no room for Mann in 17.
With all fit I'd go,

Could start Klem, Barnett & Fitz depending on form.
But thats a very strong bench.
 
I think Lee’s money will go into Bradman’s upgrade/extension, but we should have some money there regardless. My worry though is that we still have a huge cap portion on the forward pack with low quality depth in the backs. I think we need more than only Gagai, personally, but who knows what will happen.
