This better not be true he is one of my fav knights players and after all he has overcome in his private life i think he deserves a go under bennett

I would rather players like Ben Rogers and Dan Tolar go instead of Paterson. He could be massive under Bennett.

He's never reached his potential, and i believe he has chronic arthritis in both knees that will always see him running on old legs for the rest of his career.

Catalans are looking for a replacement for Steve Menzies for next season. They could do worse than Cory.

There's barely any local talent or players in FG squad as it is. Tinkler should step in, so his promises aren't being broken.

Mate, Tinkler questioning Bennett could turn out to be a very bad thing, i hope he doesn't step in. If Bennett doesn't want Pato, well that's that. He's never looked like reaching his potential here anyway.

Breaking promises to the fans and members that voted you in could turn out to be a very bad thing too. Better to **** off one guy then thousands. He's also never really had the chance to either.

Great call. He is useless and personally he is not in my 17. Anyone of say's Tinkler should step in is crazy, How good is our roster going to be next year with all the dead wood gone. Anyone know if he goes to the ESL if we have to pay any of his contract or is that only for another NRL club?

I'm as big a supporter of local juniors as anyone, but i've never been a huge fan of Pato.
He was a big, lazy sook in the juniors, and he still is.
The best he ever played was in Premier League when he looked like a world beater in the making and in half a dozen games in firstgrade he looked pretty good - but for most of his career he has looked full of potential but never delivered.

Having said that, someone like Cartwright or the Melbourne guy (can't think of his name) could still turn him into the best in the comp.

What are the members going to do? He owns the club and when we start winning losing a few hundred members at worst over this will be easily compensated for by those who join up. look at the Dragons and their member numbers since they started there run under Wayne. Plus we lose one local and gain another in Snowden.

Big Big call here.

Am a huge fan of Cory's ever since he made his debut in 07, but even I see he has been off the pace since he took time off.

He is on big coin, enough for Bennett to most likely look at and think 'not worth it'

On the flipside, he may play well under him.

Again, big big call.

Also, the guy who broke the story is a good journo who is mates with Cory so no doubt it's true.

Corey on 200k+ a year.
Filipo not in the top 25 so on less than 55k a year.

I'd rather keep Filipo for double what he is on now.

It could be a good thing for Cory too. Another Josh Perry situation. Maybe he needs a fresh start somewhere else. Yeah, he has potential, but how long will it take to see it? Bennett is good, but it's not all about what Bennett can do, Cory has to show that he wants it and I'm not convinced he has. I'm not worried either way if he stays or go, it would just be good though to see him do well somewhere.

Also, he was on a fairly big contract wasn't he? Would free up a bit of cash for Myles, Boyd, et al

“The news disappoints but hopefully we can sort a few things out in the next few weeks whether that be here or elsewhere,”

Sounds like it's got to do with financial more than anything.

Pato re-signed for a fair amount of $$ when he was being chased by the Bulldogs a couple of years back so we upped our offer and kept him.

If he can sort something out 'here' then one can only assume he takes a paycut.

I'm a massive supporter of having local boys in the FG squad but we can't just hang onto them for that reason if we want to be a top side.

Patto is one of the more frustrating players in our squad, he can be brilliant but is to often lazy. I believe Bennett is exactly the sort of coach that could get the best out of him but with the cap in place I can understand having to let him go.

He has the potential to be a great buy for anyone that picks him up if in the right environment. A change could be exactly what he needs to go to the next level by getting him out of his comfort zone. I wish him and whatever club picks him up all the best

Its going to be sad to let him go but he is one of the laziest players in our team. You would think maybe myles has told the knights he will sign with them thats why they are letting patto go.

I've never understood the craving for 'local boys' myself. Personally, it seems like a mild form of local racism.
The local boys will never take us to a Premiership. Don't bring up 1997 or 2001 - I think we all recognise that Andrew Johns won those premierships, and we're not going to find a local junior like him in the next 100 years.
