Carney, Goodwin stood down pending probe

It's obvious Carney must have some problems off the field, though I think he's a good young player. Canberra would be silly to let him go, and IMO, they should just try and work through it with him.

I agree, would suck to see him head over to ESL.

(Even though I like ESL)

well i bet canberra were wishing they had his money to sign someone like Barrett a few months ago, and now im wishing Manly had signed him

Do Canberra still have Dobson?

Carney in the clear

A complaint against Raiders rugby league star Todd Carney has been withdrawn, ACT police say.
Carney was alleged to have urinated on a patron at a Canberra pub in the early hours of Monday.
"A 22-year-old man from Bruce was ... interviewed in relation to an allegation of assault," a police statement said.
"That investigation is concluded as the complaint has been withdrawn."The news is not so good for Carney's teammate Bronx Goodwin.
The fullback will face court after being charged with two counts of assault.
"A 24-year-old Bruce man will be summonsed to face court on two assault charges following incidents at an O'Connor licensed premises on Sunday night-Monday morning," the statement said.
"Police will allege the man assaulted two other patrons outside the premises about 11.40pm on Sunday, July 20.
"The 24-year-old was interviewed by investigators at City Police Station earlier today."
Goodwin's court date is yet to be fixed.
The Raiders said both players would remain suspended, pending an internal investigation.
"ACT Policing has concluded their investigation in regards to the weekend's incidents, and the Raiders will now begin deciding on a course of action internally," club chief executive Don Furner said in a statement.
"At this stage both Bronx and Todd will remain suspended by the club, and their futures will be decided following consultation with the Raiders board, coaching staff and playing group."
Carney has been in trouble with the law repeatedly and his future with the club is by no means guaranteed despite his ability on the field.
"The Raiders take the issue of off-field behaviour very seriously and will assess the situation involving both Bronx and Todd before deciding on any further action," Furner said.

bad news for goodwin

good for carney but he has to undergo some sort of disciplinary treatment in my opinion

Good news Carney will still stay in NRL he is a good young player to watch.

It is all a cover up. Andrew Johns like. Why would Canberra want to get rid of one of their best players, but their best in my opinion. They probably paid the person who made the complaint to withdraw it. I think this is unfair to Bronx Goodwin.

A similar thing happened at Newcastle with Dane Tilse in Bathurst.

Good news for Carney, bad new for Goodwin.

Wonder if Carney will play this weekend.

He wont be playing.

Canberra halfback Todd Carney will not play against Gold Coast this weekend despite the withdrawal of a complaint stemming from a late night incident at an ACT bar on the weekend.

Carney was alleged to have urinated on a fellow patron at the All Bar Nun establishment in the early hours of Monday morning, Carney part of Raiders contingent who had been out celebrating their side's stunning 34-12 win over the Sydney Roosters on Sunday.

The complaint was withdrawn after Carney and Bronx Goodwin, who was involved in a separate incident, were interviewed by Canberra police.

The troubled playmaker's future at the club now looks assured, though the Raiders will conduct their own investigations before clearing the 22-year-old's return to the field.

You don't know that buddy.

Yes i do.

The troubled playmaker's future at the club now looks assured, though the Raiders will conduct their own investigations before clearing the 22-year-old's return to the field.

According to Raiders officials, that will not occur before Saturday's vital clash with the Titans, where a win could propel the green machine into the top eight for the first time since round five.

No you don't.

Unless of course you work for Canberra management in some form, which I highly doubt.

You won't know until on the day.
