Big letdown in 2012, But Good things to come

We definately weren't the best of the best this year, we could have been. But I think that the loss of Gidley definately put us under some pressure. But isn't it great to know that we have some huge talents coming through the ranks in Roberts, Rochow, Adams, Filipo, K.Naiqama, Tetevano. With Scott coming next year our forwards will be stronger. People who say Wayne is bringing the whole Dragons team to Newcastle, no. Wayne is simply bringing players who suit his game plan.
 
i find it funny that people are saying what a great second half of the season the knights have had...wtf? 6 and 6 is not great, ok it's better than what we did for the first 12 rounds but i ain't gonna do handstands over a 50% success rate...
really think we missed blokes like Gids,Hilder,Tui and Fa'as over the last month, their experience and not insignificant ability would have helped tremendously and may well have prevented us losing 4 of our last 5 but we have no-one to blame but ourselves as the situations involved with a couple of those blokes were completely avoidable and i cannot help feel as a club we got the result we deserved...
good times ahead for 2013? depends on who else we sign, with another prop surely at the top of the list...
 
Agreed, need a great big man that bends the opposition defensive line when carrying out of our own 20, and then dominates blokes when given a chance to put a shot on. Given the money spent on Snowden, we probably could've got a Tamou, Tariq Sims, and a Sam Burgess would be a nice dream!!

Roberts is the worst defender in the NRL, and whilst Mullen had a couple of highlights (most notably sitting Fui on his arse), he also has been guilty of missing a lot of tackles that have led to tries. J Smith and B Scott will help,our fringes defensively, but we need 2 things to win the comp....

A premiership Prop- think webke, Lazarus, THE CHIEF!!

A playmaker who gets repeat sets when nothing is doing. Our attacking kicks this season have been reflective of our position on the ladder, definitely not top 8 material.

Fix up these couple of things and we will hold the trophy aloft!
 
Have to say it was a pretty awful season. People say we have improved, if we had improved we'd be in the top four or at least top six. We didn't improve, last year we finished in the 8. This year we finished 11th. Although we did improve on some things like defence and structure.
 
It was always gonna be a tough first season with so many players going and so many new players coming in with different way's of playing and needing time to gel, and Gidley ruled out for the season certainly didn't help. There are definitely positives for the future now, & this off season plus some signings will see Wayne get the boys firing for 2013.. I can't see us get anywhere short of the 8 next year.
 
Last night summed up our pathetic season, we have gone backwards... Our Attack is pedestrian, if we didn't have aku we would of gotten into a fight with parra for the spoon... Yes gidley was a massive lost, but this year was a complete failure! I'm not a fan of our new structures we are boring to watch! I have a million other things to complain about and yes we have improved in some areas but overall we were ****... But in saying that this year was never going to be our year even with kurt, i'll judge us on where we place next year and if it isnt in the top 8, then I have no idea why we wasted so much money of these chumps

Yeah, but I think we've only lost to top four sides since the Wests win, and we did beat one in Manly.

I think if you take that into account then you can see the progress we've made. Last year we couldn't beat any other top eight sides, but in the second half of this season we've managed that a few times. Improve out performances to go for the whole eighty minutes and get a bit more grunt up front and I think we're looking good for 2012.
 
Our football has been of a higher quality this year (in the second half of the season). I don't know how to explain it, we probably won more last year, but the football has been more quality. Lately most of us have the confidence that the Knights can come back from deficits, hold a lead etc. Last year you just had to hope that the Knights could go on with games or comeback, hope compared to almost certainty that we'll get back in the game at some point now. It's now up to the players & Bennett to stop the situations where we are having to come back in the first place.
 
We missed Hilder's defence. Teams don't get as much of a roll on when he's there. None of this grabbing BS in defence Hilder drops them. Bennett needs to swallow his pride and get him out there next year in his right position. And while on the subject of Hilder if he was the only player to deserve getting hooked this I'm a skinny Eskimo. Those 2 close range tries last night weren't terrible they were embarrassing.
 
I think it's more a case of Hilder recovering fully from his brain problems than Bennett swallowing any pride. In NSW Cup today he still seemed pretty quiet to me.

The off-season will definitely help him ... I expect him to play a big role next year.

He was off the pace today. Relax.
 
I don't care if he was ball boy today. We missed his defense. I take Jame's point about his noggin though. I have seen many players lift dramatically once sent out in first grade.
 
We definitely could have used him fully fit this season. He played second row today, it'll be interesting to see how he slots in next season. But he's definitely got to be in first grade if he's back to 100%.
 
i think there will be a few changes to the line up and i think the make up of the forward pack will change quite dramatically.
 
Agree. N costigan is a waste of space. Done nuthin the whole year. Get rid of him put scott in sr with mckinnon to lock
