i think smith should consider ( saying all is healthy):
1.k.gidley
2.A.Uate
3.A.Macdougall
4.W.Naiqama
5.C.Vuna
6.J.Mullen
7.S.Dureau (only due to field goal:):))...L.walsh left out due to defence, even though his structural play and kicking game is better
bench: K.Lulia & M.Hilder as backs/utility

Any disagreements? like mcmanus better ? Walsh? post complaints!

McManus should be there. Otherwise it'd be try after try on each wing. (Against us)

McManus Def.

MadDog Def. aswell( Im a fan, not sure if anyone would agree with me, i think he just adds the experience we need in that department)

I think Dereau's kicking is just as good as walsh if not better plus his running game is superior and even the though there similar in size Dereau is alot stronger and a way better defender
I think McManus deserves his spot he was very solid against Manly and if Uate were to come into the squad it would be at Cooper Vuna's expense McManus might not have the attacking flair but is a stronger defender and a safer option but Vuna deserves a few more chances to. So the team should stay as is for the time being with Cross and Sargeant returning when fit

1. K.Gidley
2. J.McManus
3. W.Naiqama
4. A.Macdougall/L.MacDougall
5. C.Vuna
6. J.Mullen
7. S.Dureau

14. M.Hilder

The only one I would really replace is MacDougall with his brother just to see if they can help out defence down that side, apart from that I think if fit all those guys need to be there.

Pretty much spot on with how i like to see it.
1. K.Gidley
2. J.McManus
3. W.Naiqama
4. A.Macdougall
5. C.Vuna
6. J.Mullen
7. S.Dureau

14. M.Hilder

I'd take away L.Mac

I would like to see Uate get a run to see how he fares. Also i think Lulia should get another crack. But our backline should look as above.

Ok so if Vuna Starts playing like he was last few rounds last year or better in the next few rounds and Mcmanus keeps playing how he is, which is personally quite lack luster would you not give Uate a crack? I think he needs to be put in Honestly appart from that kick last round against the Raiders which was just Pure luck. what else has he done in the two seasons he has been Great in defense but he lacks what i think we need in a winger which is class.

Explain how McManus has been terrible ?

I wonder how Uate would go at centre, can Uate catch a ball ? maybe Uate on the wing and Vuna in the centres ?

I dunno but if McManus is dropped from the team the flood gates will open down both sides of the wings, I'm sure we don't want that to happen.

I'd like to see Uate get a go at first grade until then cant really comment on what to do with McManus. For now i dont have an issue with him.

I can't really comment on Uates defence since I've never seen him play, but if he lacks in that department as much as I've heard, swapping Vuna for Uate wouldn't make a difference in defence.

But as long as McManus isn't being dropped, I'm fine. Sure he hasn't been superb, but he's been solid. And that's all we need.

Give Uate some time, he;ll be in First grade soon i reckon. Drop Vuna for Uate Frizzed?

If I was coach I would give Vuna a couple more chances, then see how we go from there.

I wouldn't bring Uate in just yet, he will get his chance during the year though.

The only time i have seen Uate play is last years trial match in necknock against the Sharks and from that game he looked good. Obviously it was last year and a lot could have changed. But all in all he should get a go at grade and see how he goes.

Im saying look at the rest of the wingers in the comp and they all have something special, Mcmanus doesn't really have anything, Ive never seen the bloke step, doesn't fend, doesn't really have speed. He can jump but not great.

As for Vuna in the centers ive thought about it but i don't think so. But i think Smith could name him there but say to him look i don't want you to play like a normal center just play the way you play comfortable and points will come. Uate is bigger and stronger than Vuna so he wouldn't be a bad center but i believe his best position is wing. He has great stepping skills great acceleration Great jumping skills. the only thing that lets him down is this well noted defense. Now everyones been calling for Vuna's head after his so called bad defense but as James stated, any winger would of done that. The only defensive error ive seen in his game so far this year is last night where he went to put a shoulder into David Valeki i think and it would of saved a try but they had a 3 on two situation.

In Closing GIVE UATE A SHOT

McManus is a great finisher, can jump, can/does and is solid in defense.

Rd 25, last year, McManus was all over Tuiaki. All I can say is that right now, defense would be something that Smith really wants to improve on this year, and taking McManus out for a weaker defender wouldn't be on his wish list.

McManus is a great defensive winger, if you take him out god knows what the score will be, our problem isn't scoring points, our problems is stopping the opposition scoring points.

It's beyond me how people could think about dropping McManus, maybe they should take their rose tinted spectacles off and actually compare Vuna and McManus.

Yeah, McManus would be one of the last players I would drop. He's the rock on which the team is built.

Bit hard to build a team around a winger lol, but yeah i wouldnt drop Macmanus for Jesus himself.

I dunno, Jesus was quite an impressive fullback in his playing days for Jerusalem, could make a successful winger convert ?

But tbh I don't want to see anyone dropped from our team.
