Aku's next contract

I think we need to get him locked up soon does anyone think he will leave. Also how much can we afford to pay a winger in your guys opinion

Keeping him is number one priority next year (followed by winning a premiership). Watching him play for someone else would be like watching someone have sex with your partner.

Some of us are aroused by that thought especially if it was Rona Mitra.

No more than 500k in the cap, he deserves to be the highest paid winger and one of the highest paid players. He's more than just an a regular winger who stands on the sidelines all game and falls over the line. He's one of the best attacking players in the game, he's won us endless amounts of games by himself and will continue to do so for a long time. His ability to score tries and turn games around from nothing and the amount of bums he puts on seats is enough for me to say he deserves 500k. Definitely one of the best players in the game and is entitled to a big pay rise.

Considering he plays as a wInger and hits it up like a forward I think 500k is fair. I also think we should match any other offers he may receive.

I think the job description of a winger has changed in the last couple years. If we can forget prefixed ideas about the limited value of a winger and see that Aku has the go forward of another great prop. If we can see just how many points he is worth per year,

I think we can find 400k for him

Very true ... if the salary cap goes up enough then I think he would even be worth $500 k.

450k on a long term contract IMO. He does provide much more than your average winger.

I Think the club needs to act early to try and avoid poaching attempts, and lock him in for long term.

I would love to see Aku play his whole first grade career at the knights, i would love to see how many tries he could set the club record at. Weather it will happen or not is a different story.

He's worth more to us than he is to anyone else.
No one else is going to pay marquee player money for a winger.
I'm confident that we can match any other offer he will get.

Sign him up for 3 or 4 years and when Tahu retires next year make Aku a $500,000 centre inside kevy and im sure i read somewhere that Gagai is a left centre playing on the right side (could be wrong there though does anyone know for sure ).

Gagai is a fullback playing in the centres. Pretty sure he had rarely played centre before coming here.

Where do you get your continual info from that Tahu is retiring?

Without knowing what the salary cap increases in the comimg years will be i'd say he's currently worth about 350k-380k with his salary increasing to a percentage of the cap increase ; )

If he's playing at the top of his game he should be picked for NSW and Australia so he would also get paid a fair bit extra from them too!

It'd be sad to think he wouldn't be happy with that sort of money considering the Knights involvement in his development so far!

I wouldn't be surprised to see a dirt bag side like the Roosters offer big money but I recon Union here and overseas will drive his price up.. Tinkler will sort out what he needs to to keep Aku here. He has great commercial value

When he signed they said 2 years would see him finish his career in Newcastle but i don't mind if he does'nt he's playing well, i'm just going by that.

We keep relying on Tinkler but he's selling things, on the borrow and not paying. I'd like to be going as bad but he don't seem very reliable.
