Adam O'Brien replacement?

Dunno to be honest. I’ve not being following it. I get people want to get rid of Obi, after those comments on the weekend I’m probably among them. I just don’t see a massive improvement under a John Morris type.
Yeah I rate Morris . But isn't he the defence coach at the tigers ?😳. Has Andrew Webster gone from coach of the year to a **** coach in 10 months . I don't know the answer🙁

If true, that's just the players being stupid. If you've been tapped on the shoulder and told to shape up or ship out, and I can understand them being upset at being told that (no-one would like to hear that from their employer, surely?), but the smart thing to do would be to dig in and play as best you can. I mean, you want to be impressing any potential future employers, right?!

NRL 360 was saying senior players are annoyed that O'Sullivan has been tapping players on the shoulder and that's why the effort has died off the last few weeks.

Players being shopped around are also in the senior leadership group, meaning they've added more players to that group since half of them have been told to look elsewhere lol.

Not much professionalism from the playing group if this is all true, it has to be said.
Sounds like a player clean out is in progress.

I'm not saying I'm totally against the idea (yet again ... how many is this now for the club?!), however it's getting a tad more dangerous, what with an extra team in the comp now since our last cleanout plus the addition of one-to-two more teams in the coming 4yrs. Available playing talent, already somewhat stretched, is about to get a whole lot thinner. It's one thing to move on some under-performing higher-paid players, but they have to be replaced with decent or better-performing ones, otherwise it's just more steps backwards.

All good questions, and as I said I think next year will be the year we get a definitive answer on these things. After his length of time at the club, scraping into the eight shouldn't be enough, we will want to see a top six finish at least, consistent throughout the year rather than relying on a big winning streak. But imo he's got enough credit in the bank for another season. And in saying that, it is not going to be easy to achieve with our current spine.

And that is the main argument up for discussion.

I don't believe he is entitled to next year.

We have brought in a new recruitment guru, we are going to be freeing up some salary cap space and are going to need to recruit.

We give OB next year and that recruitment is locked in, with the players coming here thinking OB is the coach. We fire OB 3/4 through next year, and then bring in a new coach who hasn't had his say in these recruitment decisions and gets the chance to then play the "this isn't my team" card.

Act now, and the new coach gets input in to the recruitment now, ahead of the game, and gets a full pre-season to prepare for next year.

OB was on his way out the door last year but for that winning run. Whatever magic the team found last year is gone. OB does not appear to have any idea on recapturing it, and infact from his comments, and what is evident from the way the team plays, OB sees the team as a grinding boring play it safe team. Which is not working.

From where I see it, OB is a rookie coach, who does not know how to get the best out of the team, does not know how to turn a struggling team around and is floundering. I don't want to waste another season on that.

The team needs an experienced coach to move us closer to where we need to be. Which is a competive week to week team that shows up every week, ready for the fight.

Edit after reading through some more posts:

Fantastic NRL360 is finally shining the light here. The Knights are a small step above the Tigers in my books. We can beat low teams, we don't turn up week to week and we might barely make the finals, might not, like this year!

Apply the blow torch NRL360. OB is done!

Would you put your house on us beating the tigers in a couple of weeks?

Except last year he did exactly that, we were struggling then had our best season in years.

The coach market is awful, the only one worth getting is Brad Arthur and his not going to white ant AOB. This year the attack has been absolutely dreadful but there’s been other aspects of the team that have done quite well. If I said Ponga and Gamble will miss pretty much all of May, June & July everyone would write this season off, no matter if Craig Bellamy is our coach.

My yard stick is not if we make the finals.

The top 8 system is a joke when you can win only half your games and make it.

Teams 7 and 8 should not be there IMHO.

1 of those seasons we looked any good.

Personally im not happy with being a club that can barely make the 8, only to have no hope of making a dent. 1 and done as CBM famously taunted.
When you consider most of those wins for the last two teams will be against the bottom 9 too

As far as I am concerned, getting AOB sacked, sooner or later, is essential before our club will progress beyond at best making up the numbers in the 8.

I want the Knights to win another premiership not to have players paid well to win a few games each year and the loyal fans to be disappointed year after year after year.
