Adam O'Brien replacement?

Yeah if we do sack AOB I still think John Morris is the best option avaliable to take over. Has played for the club and not afraid to back the younger players and I thought did a good job at Cronulla with what he had.

Forgot about Arthur, he'd be a upgrade over AOB. He got the best out of several back rowers at Parra.

The more I think of Madge I think he suits the rep footy game and not convinced with any of the other options are any better than AOB tbh.

Most realistic suggestion so far, and from memory when the option of Flanno came up 99% of people panned it, yet now his the second coming?

we can't even hold the ball playing conservative footy, why do you all want us to take the cuffs off & throw it around?! I think thats what AOB means by playing ugly!
I'd rather the Tigers take that spoon thank you!

A bloke who hasn't coached a team to finals since 2016 odd and has had 2 teams of players hating him at the end of the tenor?
lol what a way to leave both his clubs.

People saying we need a coach like Bellamy that takes no prisoners and will tell the players how much they suck, etc. Based on his coaches box antics I guess? But every player I’ve ever heard talk about him says what a great mentor he is and how he’s really lovely to everyone, he gets all that stuff out in the coaches box and rarely goes berserk at the players.

I mean I can only talk for myself, but that sort of leader is so much more effective to me. And if you look at the most successful NRL coaches - Bellamy, Cleary, Bennett, even back to Gibson, they are all in that mould.

If anything from what I’ve read about AOB in the media and from some on here based on what they’ve seen, he is too harsh on the players. And given the way they mostly play under him, it definitely looks like they’re under the thumb in terms of tactics and not wanted to make errors.

To be fair we are only 3, it's a pretty congested ladder. I'll enjoy watching the knives come out, but I'll back Obi to get us up again next year when we don't have a nightmare run of injuries.
Lmao.

Lord. We're a professional sporting organisation. We live and die by results. So far theres been 5 years of mediocrity and no one is dying. That's a problem. You'll notice that the best clubs hardly wait 12 months to remedy a mediocre season, the Knights? Well the Knights seem to have gotten comfortable with mediocrity. That's the only way I can explain your post and the fact that OB a rookie coach with an average record has managed 5 straight seasons as head coach here

I was going to post this after reading Newygirl's post.

That game sums up OB. We were playing well, a bit of wind and he kills their confidence telling them to not throw the ball around, Cronulla come out and throw it around and belt us. And we never recovered.

I haven't honestly given a stuff about watching the press conference after the game, but just watched it. Talks about making it a slugfest, that what he does every single game!

The ugly team comment, We have KP, we have best, Gags, we have marzhew, powerful players, elusive players, we have KPP who can offload nearly at will if given space, we have <cough> SOO experienced forwards that just need the motivation and standards set for them.

We showed last year we can be an exciting football team, we can be one of the best attacking teams in the comp.

To say we are an ugly team, is insulting to the players, the club and the fans who turn up to watch, and hope the team can pull it together. Instead, he does not believe in them, and is forcing an ugly dire form of football on them because he believes that is the best they can do.

Just wow! This is the bloke the players look to the most to lead them and guide them.
Inspiring stuff hey?

Who would bust their *** for a boss who thinks they’re incompetent and is basically saying he has no confidence in their ability to even play the game.

Why set expectations high and try get the best out of the players and as a team but maybe fall a bit short, when you can set the lowest standards possible and fail anyway.

It’s actually a bit of a self-own really because he’s been their coach for the past five years. Five years and he’s essentially saying this is the best I can do with them. Shouldn’t that raise alarm bells? What do they do at training.

A bloke who hasn't coached a team to finals since 2016 odd and has had 2 teams of players hating him at the end of the tenor? Call the players snow flakes, but a madge style won't fly.
They’re snow flakes.

One of those teams he won a grand final with, the other had a pack of reserves graders sulking because they were getting called out for being mediocre.

I remember the doco they released and one of those players having a whinge was Leilua and that’s because Madge called him out for being a overweight, lazy sh*t.

I really wish people would stop judging how the club and OB is going by number of times he made the finals.

3 out of 5. 2 of those may as well not even be in them, 1 of them we had any real chance in the finals and carried momentum in.

And that 1 finals appearance worth anything came off 10 straight wins and playing an exciting brand of football OB is clearly coaching out of the squad.

I don't give a stuff about making the 8 and being punted first week. Premierships are what counts, under OB are we moving towards becoming a contender or away?

If we spend the next decade finishing 7th and 8th more often than not but going straight out, well, that isnt acceptable in my book.

We tend to beat easy teams, and lose to contenders, our physicality and intensity in games is lacking and under OB that will all continue, as will our dire, boring brand of football that chokes any creativity.

We are not premiership contenders at present and we are not building towards being contenders. We are going backwards. 40 missed tackles in the first half of a crucial game makes it clear that we have a problem.
We need to sack AOB and then weed out underperforming players.

I agree with @Kurriboy the only success that counts is winning premierships, building towards premierships is acceptable but going backwards in a big way isn’t.

Not 100% sure on this one, but you might need to make the finals to win the comp.

Yeah, you also need to be able to beat top 4 teams with their best players, playing their best footy.

Thats such a nonsensical argument that making the finals means we are a chance to win a premiership.

We could finish 8th 10 times in a row? Are we getting closer to winning the comp are we? Winning half the time against **** opposition.

Results = premierships.

Nobody cares who made 8th place.

Are we getting closer to becoming a contender, or further away?

Sorry but your kidding yourself. We weren't making finals and are obviously closer, last year if we hadn't of run out of puff we were contenders.

If not results than what? How often were we making finals pre Obi?
To be fair if Browny had the resources , facilities & money behind him that Obi has he might still be here .Even when we have won at home this year I've never left the ground think geez we played well . With the style of play he has persisted with & the fact that we are all but out of the finals race . I think the players will be feeling it & looking forward to holidays . Could get ugly , can't see the "playing for the coach"
