Adam O'Brien replacement?

Honest question - What difference OB makes to the squad.

If you took him out, and replaced him with just any random fan from the audience.

I can't see that there would be much of a difference. The fan tells them, look I want to see you blokes running hard, defend like a unit and play hard. I honestly don't think the team would look any different at all!

Madge would be great, but I fear our soft ,sookey players would pack it in like the Tigers
The Tigers had a reserve grade squad in the middle of a rebuild while Mag was there. It's never made sense to me why people judge Mag as a coach by his record at the Tigers. It truly makes no sense, especially considering the bloke won a premiership with the previous club.

The Knights are absolute morons. For several years they've had the chance to sign two different coaches who've both won Premierships in the last decade, but instead opted to extend OB as though it was the safe option.

It was the riskiest option to take and it has failed!!!!!

You can see how little respect the playing group has for OB. KPP pulls up, plays to rep standard for 3 or 4 games, without a proper preseason. Then switches over to the same game mode as everyone else in the team 'meh'

Not questioning his coaching, I'm saying our soft players would rail against his style

But also had Souths finish 12th two years in a row in 2016-17, the only two times they missed the finals from 2012-22. He hasn't got a team to the finals since 2015. Definitely doing a great job now as a rep coach, but I've got questions over his club coaching record for sure.

Well, we missed out on the best coach that needed a job in Flanagan.

The truth is OB is not an NRL head coach. The soon the Knights admit this and move him on, the better for us and him.

At least Browny to his credit, stepped aside when he could see the writing on the wall.

I'm fine with sacking OB based on the fact that we need a change, however I have zero confidence that any coach outside of Bellamy or Robinson would make a difference. This playing group is poor. The problems won't end by simply changing the coach.

If this club has any sense at all, it sacks AOB tomorrow. Signs Maguire for next season. And hopes that it hasn't just widdled away the prime years of Ponga by persisting with overtly mediocre coach who passed his expiry date at the club 2 seasons ago
You know who Madge’s favourite player is right?

I think we’d be signing up for a period of improvement followed by burnout. That’s his pattern over his career. He’s a bit like the Mourinho of rugby league. Depends how you feel about that. If you get him at the right time it could pay off big but the milk will go sour at some point.

If he gets us a Premiership during said period of Improvement I think everyone will be fine when the burnout part comes along.

We have had over a decade of burnout so I am more than happy to drink the sour milk when the time comes.

Even the Tigers declined every year under him, so there's definitely truth to the whole burnout thing that came out in the media at both clubs.

Not that I have any better ideas. I think AOB gets next year, hopefully injury free, to try and save his career.

He's been who I've said ever since the Sharks got rid of him. But I dunno how much difference it would really make with this playing group, tbh.
