The thing relevant to the thread, is OB's comments about the bye, and the squad reading their own press, 4 wins etc.
That is exactly his job as coach to keep them on the level, prepare them, ensure they don't get off the track.
He may have been involved in 4 grand finals, but he is an absolute numpty on how to run the show himself!
Whenever OB is replaced, we must get a seasoned campaigner with a proven record of turning around teams with attitude problems.

Parr has been here a couple years. AOB inherited Pearce and let him walk without replacing him. Since then, he attempted to sign Luke Brooks. Failed. Then signed Hastings who was playing 13 at the Tigers.
This coach is a loser, he is aiming for mediocrity and reaches it most years.
The only way out is to throw marquee money at a marquee 7 or 9 until one arrives. The idea that we can't sign these players is outdated and frankly just an excuse to hide behind. And let's assume for a moment that task is unrealistic, why not attempt to sign other clubs 19 year old stars? Katoa, Chase, Mozer etc etc. Try something.
I'm not making machinations about who we should sign, I'm suggesting that it should've already happened

McDermott is apparently very keen for the role .... He must be frustrated sitting near AOB with pathetic performances.
Well he’s the defensive coach, so I’m not sure he’s doing such a great job based on Friday night, either.

I remember Mark O'Meeley absolutely giving it to him in the press after that one, hated the showboating i think, saying if he did the work your average front rower did he'd never have the energy to do that late in a game.
