Adam O'Brien replacement?

On the plus side for O'Brien, his work ethic means he'll walk into an assistant coach job or even an ESL coaching job in a minute.
Seibold will probably give him one at Manly to return the favour for hiring him.

we just got pumped by a team with 30% of its first grade players missing, and a reserve grade halves pairing.

the Knights made up of 2 SOO props, a SOO fullback, a SOO centre, a SOO backrower, 2 of the best wingers in the comp ( IMO )

From where I sit, we didnt get pumped by superior athletes, with superior skill, we got pumped by a team that wanted wanted to win more.

Now that the ship’s sailed for a coach that can do the job, I reckon you’re right. Why not punt him now there’s no decent replacement?

I know people mention John Morris, but I’d rather not. He’s too nice a bloke to end the chance of ever coaching again by taking this job. It seems this is where coach’s come to die now

Even if we win the next two games it’s harder to tell wether we are better. The true test is against top teams. If we win whilst still performing bad is fair indication. If we win by playing very good footy then he lives another day.

i didn’t say our whole team is bad, but in the key positions I think it clearly is. Until it’s addressed these are the types of season you will see unless Bellamy, Robinson or Bennett decide to have a crack.
 
Am I on my own, so very sick and tired of the continuous comments on here about sacking AOB.
Yes he and team are not going well, bad actually.
He has a year to run on contract, no official making comments about his likely sacking and everyone on here has him gone, sacked and has various opinions about who should replace him.
All the comments and opinions by this thread won’t change what will or might happen yet we continue to discuss and argue about it all.
Wish we could get back to football, win a few games, feel good about a few results and let those that control things do something about it, might actually smile and enjoy, wouldn’t that be nice😀👍✌️😀

Might be an unpopular opinion but -

Bennett has won 1 premiership since the days of working with a stacked Broncos deck. ( leaves his clubs in really poor condition also )

Robinson has only ever worked with a stacked deck, and arguably should have won a couple more premierships than he has ( most over rated coach in recent memory )

Bellamy is another story , obviously great coach, and can turn water into wine apparently.
 
I find posting on here about AOB being sacked helps me deal with the frustration of supporting a team running 14th which is playing poorly. This year has to be regarded as a failure because we will not make the 8. AOB must accept a lot of the blame for that. Hopefully the more talk there is about AOB being sacked the more likely it will occur.

I don’t think I could cope with another dismal season next year with AOB as coach, I would have to stop watching the Knights games and I have never had to do that before.

I can only see us winning a maximum of 4 more games this year (Bulldogs, Tigers, Bulldogs and Dragons).

I’ll be very happy when this season is over.

he doesnt though ( or very rarely ) and that's a contributing factor to his crapness.

How long do you think a coach should be given to show if he has what it takes? 3 yrs ? 5 yrs ? what is a fair amount of time In your opinion ?

not many, he somehow takes a nobody and turns them into great players, and within a great team. Always in the top 4.

Unfortunately AOB wasnt paying attention to the big picture.

I can not stand AOB. He offers nothing apart from excuses and is always trying to defend his job with words rather then actions.
Its like the team goes off him and usually in a big way. Last year it was the Sharks game this year it was the Cowboys game rd 8.

Even when we were going through those tough years with Brown i still felt like i could get behind the team and each year there was that little ray of hope that things would get better.

I cancelled my family membership this year and the only reason was because AOB was still the coach (was spewin to cause we had gr8 seats)

If hes here next year we can expect more of the same and to lose more of our juniors to boot.
 
As a fan base we have been more than patient to give him a go. Last year our side was abysmal. Yeah sure we had heaps of injuries, but if we had built up a strong squad, and culture then injury aside we should have still been at least competitive. Take the Broncos for example. 2-3 years ago under Seibold they also were massively underperforming. Brought in Kevy and Ben Ikin and look where they are now. Kevy brought in standards.

I personally believe the team AOB inherited from Brown was a relatively strong squad and he was brought in to take them to another level. But that hasn’t happened and we have regressed. We were lucky to scrape into the 8 those first two years when he was in charge. How long should we keep standing for mediocrity? Time for change.
