He’s just has his worst ever losing streak as a coach and what it took for that to happen was one of the dumbest locker room dividing scandals ever…
 
Didn’t the Sea Eagles literally fire Toovey to appease Daly Cherry-Evans? The player who demanded a contract that at the time took up 20% of the salary cap? The guy who strung the Titans along in order to chisel more money out of Manly? You know, DCE, the guy who’s the reason the NRL changed the rules around cooling off periods? That guy.

Certainly knocked the entitlement outta him. 😂

Toovey finished 4th (made gf qualifier), 4th (lost gf), 2nd (out in straight sets) and 9th. Certainly very weird he’s never got another shot. Also weird that Manly thought Trent Barrett was a good replacement.

The point is that the coach probably can’t actually do this. The better ones bend the arrogance to their advantage.

I think Des has a longer and better track record, has been more innovative (that forward pack is mud, the Eagles have overachieved in this second stint under Des) and hasn’t been busted doing some of the worst cheating ever so I’d take him.

I wanted Flanagan out of desperation, I want Des because I think he’s about as proven as it gets outside of Bellamy and Bennett. If we wanna know for sure whether it’s on the coach or it’s just a rotten playing group, we’d know pretty quick if they play under Des.
 
Sounds like Des is done with head coaching, his apparently been angling to move into a coaching director role at Manly but the board are against it.

This read to me like DCE is incredibly entitled and Tooves couldn't knock it out of him.

As for the coach, I think I'm officially off AOB. I've defended him for a long time but I agree that we need to find out if it's a rotten playing group or a dud coach and we shouldn't p!ss away another season to figure it out.

Pretty sure it’s a bit of both that’s just exaggerated by having a coach out of his depth.

I place the Knights at the very highest as 6th on the ladder and should be no lower then 11/12th.
 
6th? Geez that’s surprisingly generous. 😂

I guess Dessie got a side with Kris Keating and Josh Reynolds in the halves to a minor premiership & grand final so if anyone could get us as high as 6th it’s him!

Bennet
Payton and Fitzgibon have emerged as topline coach's.
Then I'd have, Demitro, Arthur, Sticky.

I wonder how we would have gone if we picked up Payton or Fitzgibon? Payton was also turning around the Warriors in the short time he was there too.

Its hard to argue AOB is one of the bottom NRL coach's. He's taken what I feel was a decent roster to a bad team that can't attack and can't defend.
 
Kinda feel for AOB, I have been told from a close friend of mine who works at the club and is extremely close to Gardiner that AOB busts his *** trying to get the best out of the team.

However certain players aren't putting in intentionally and are selfish because they don't like that he has been trying to change the culture at the club.

He also didn't want to sign KP for that much money but was over ruled by control freak Gardiner.
