Eaxctly, THAT is the attitude of a winner. I don't think Bellamy is a great coach, not tactically. What he is, is a hard task master that will not accept 90%. And here we are accepting way less. See him in the coaches box blowing up when the team is leading by 30 but someone is doing something stupid on field. Winner! He reportedly gives players a simple role and makes them stick to it. He lets his talented players play the game their way and facilitates the team to work to take advantage of those strengths. The Melbourne system isn't a set way to play, it's just he identifies what players are his strengths, give them the freedom to play what they see, and gets the rest of the squad doing their jobs. Forwards go forward, dominate. Backs be ready to support any break made by the creative palyers. And the creative players, be confident in your skills and try things! The team will be there to support you.
He isn't in there telling Munster ok play 3 we are here on field I want you to do this. Munster himself said he doesn't know what he is going to do next. He doesn't have an Xbox controller up in the box running players around the field! He lets them play what they see, and he trusts them to see what to play. The rest of the team does everything they can to support them and make those chances happen!
And your not wrong that the cohesion thing is a thing. There does seem to be a sentiment from some that if we stay together with the same spine, same players and same coach we will get better. Whilst I think cohesion does play a role, for us it is not the answer. When we hired OB, the one thing I was praying he brought here from both Melbourne and the Roosters is that drive, that not accepting mediocrity attitude. He hasn't.
