Jake Clydesdale being released by Canberra is someone we should think about offering a development deal to.
Giant prop from Scone and half brother of former Knight Adam Clydesdale.
Very good player for NSW under 19s a few years ago and always very good in reserve grade against us.

Sua Faalogo has been far more consistent than Ponga this season.
 
There’s some weird opinions on Ponga on here sometimes. He’s almost always our best player, and always an attacking threat. Even his “quieter” games still have a lot of class. Warriors game a perfect example, where the work he does on the inside puts players away, not to mention his extra load in defence with 12 men in that game.
Nothing better than seeing him runs those set plays, it’s the reason we’ve scored so many points this year, personally I’d have him over any fullback in the comp.

Main thing Sua showed this season IMO is that they needn't have paid Pappy all that money... that's not a hard team to play fullback for. In the games where they're on top, he's going to be spoonfed a lot of opportunities where any fullback with a bit of pace & elusiveness about him can score. To me that's different to the sort of load players like Ponga, Walsh, Teddy & Scotty Drinks take on in attack for their teams.
 
Ricky is probably the safest of coaches because Canberra do struggle to recruit named players, so they have to develop them, and like him or not, Ricky is one of the best at developing talent. Meanwhile, reading this article, it's Reece Walsh deja vu for the Broncos: he had to leave despite his obvious talent, only for the Broncos to realise what they had given up.

Also, it's another example calling into question Madge's communication. Which I would have thought was a key aspect of being a successful head coach long-term.

Maybe Madge really is just a rep coach or an assistant.

All i said is i think that Sua has been more consistent than Ponga THIS season. I personally think that Ponga has made too many simple errors in games this season. I'm taking Ponga every day of the week if i were to build a team.

Can't critique Ponga on here mate, everytime someone doesn't shown blind loyalty and questions one of the favourite sons than you'll get put down.

Best to just nod your head and move on because Ponga has never had a bad game, has never done anything wrong
 
Yeah you’re entitled to that opinion, would be few that have Sua in the best fullback spot.
My comment wasn’t aimed just at just you, there’s some wild get rid of him type comments during every match day thread whenever he drops a ball or makes an error. You get the good with the bad from an attacking player like Ponga, and he suits our current style of play. Cant knock his effort and toughness at times either.

Never seen someone carry on so much every time people have a different opinion to them on a fan forum. Open any game thread when Ponga has made a couple of errors or isn't single-handedly carrying the team: he cops plenty of criticism regularly.
 
Ponga even being a realistic option for fullback of the year says more about the quality of fullbacks this year than it does about Ponga IMO. It was a weak year for the position as a whole. For the big names: Walsh never really got off the ground, Edwards had a down year, Turbo obviously injured, Latrell no longer a fullback. Some of the emerging ones from last year didn’t quite kick on (Weekes, Sua) or were outright bad (Kini).

Tedesco would be my pick. Sua wouldn’t even be on the shortlist, excitement machine but too much of a gap between his best and worst.
 
A lot of guys missed a lot of games. It was either KP or Teddy & ultimately with Kalyn in the team we only had one game where we scored fewer than 4 tries and that was in a win. I just don't think that's a coincidence. These games where we've struggled in the arm wrestle but have been in the game and/or won off the back of making 7+ line breaks to 3 or 4 happen when he's in the team and don't seem to when he's not. If Kalyn is fit for every game I think we finish with a record like the Dolphins, and if he misses the whole season we're probably somewhere between Parra and Canberra on the ladder.

On the other hand, he's a bit error prone, and that means he is personally putting his hand into the pocket of every member and robbing them. He's being carried by his teammates and letting us down every week. And if you disagree with this that means you're a blind biased fanboy who can't handle criticism of the golden child. It is not possible to have a reasonable disagreement with this take.
