2026 Season

You just can’t please some people, must be fun at parties…

Ps. These are the game we would have lost just last year, it’s alright to smile mate.
I do apologize if I come across as pessimistic. Even if we don't make the top 4, this year will be a massive success and Justin deserves coach of the year. But I just think we are all getting a bit carried away. The reality is we are a few levels below the other top 4 teams like the Riff, Wahs and Roosters. After all, each of those sides flogged us with ease. Our weak p/d also means that if we start losing matches, we can drop down the ladder very quickly and find ourselves on the edge of the 8. We have a very tough draw to finish the year which is what makes me nervous.

If we are being real, our run into the top 4 has been on the back of a lucky recent draw. Dragons (twice), Titans, Eels, Tigers and a Phins B side without 6 origin stars. And only 2 of those games were 13+ victories. We were very lucky to get away with most of those wins in all honesty. We will need to improve markedly given that our draw luck is going to run out after this week. We also need to massively improve our p/d if we want to remain in the 4. Our P/D is worse than all of the other teams in the mix for the top 4.
This is mostly factual. Unsure why people take this personally. We're even lucky to be playing the Bunnies without Trell and Walker

I may be wrong but I reckon the Sharks and the Roosters will beat us comfortably. Maybe that's the Knights trauma talking. We'll find out

I personally don’t rate the Sharks and Roosters one bit…if they get luck of the draw like everyone else but run into a buzz saw if they face Penrith etc, they seem to be a thorn in the side similar to the Storm and Panthers.
The Sharks got pumped by the Dolphins 10-38 at home when no one rated the Dolphins. Just a funny old season.

Good thing there are a dozen other teams to play and points up for grabs.

We beat the Rabbits with Trell and Walker, we were leading easily against a full strength Roosters without Best, Ponga and Lucas the last time we played.

You don’t just fall into top 4 we are a good side, “fans” can try and pull us down all they want I’ll be with the majority and actually enjoy not being the laughing stock of league.

I swear some people just want us to suck and hate it when we win

I'm aware of our position on the ladder, the discussion was around how different our position could be if we, for example, played any of the top 4 twice, instead of playing the Dragons and the Tigers twice.

We've had a comparatively easy run compared to the rest of the top 8. And lost to all of the good teams except for the Rabbits (and the Cowboys). My point was simply this - it's hard to measure exactly where we are at because we played the Warriors, Panthers and Roosters with all our stars injured. So a loss isn't a meaningful predictor of how we compare to those teams.

You dont even know why you're disagreeing with me, aside from some half-thought that I 'dont want us to win'.

The crux of it seems to be this. I hope we beat the Sharks and the Roosters over the next few weeks but I'm not confident based on what Ive seen. You seem to be more confident based on what you've seen.

Great. Where's the issue?

We are a few levels below Penrith, the rest is wide open. Far from impressed enough from the Roosters to say they are a few levels above us. Context also matters, we weren't close to full strength in any of those games, while they were essentially playing their best teams.
vs Wahs, no Ponga, Brown, Sharpe.
vs. Roosters, no Ponga, Best, Lucas, Friz
vs. Penrith, no Ponga, Best, Lucas, Friz
These are games against the top 4 with our biggest stars missing. Not saying we are better than them, but i'd like to see us at full strength against them.
