2026 Season

Broncos look busted atm. Souths played really well. They get Trell back they are a dangerous side. Cody mentioned they simplified the game plan not try to move it so much until they wore the opponent down.

Sounds like something the Knights should be leaning towards. Obviously great we can move the ball but need to have less errors.
 

NRL’s number one referee had a $400,000 gambling problem​

"The NRL’s top referee Ashley Klein lost hundreds of thousands of dollars betting on horse racing and greyhound racing but was allowed to keep officiating in the sport’s biggest games."

Pretty messed up, they allowed that to continue, even though that sort of information got leaked out somehow and should have been private, he shouldn't have been allowed to stay within the role and should have just quietly been managed out of it.

Even now you would think his role is pretty unsustainable, he will never hear the end of it from fans.
 
Bloody hell, he’s almost lost a house with that amount of money! No way someone involved in gambling to that extent should be refereeing games, that’s a huge red flag.

He also commented on it himself, not sure if it was saving face but what a disaster for the NRL.

I think even worse we don’t know how long before it ‘came to light’ in 2019 and then when that was the case it still took four years to close betting accounts.
No one would bat an eye lid if it was a weekend flutter but it sounds like he was going hard often for quite some time.

How on earth does that not impact your job?

I know it’s an escape and a ‘fix’ to deal with stress like a lot of those addictive things but he probably picked the worst coping mechanism in that case heh.
 
Early crow time, Madge will leave the Broncos by the end of the 2027 season.

Will either go back to rep coaching or wait for Robbo to leave the Roosters and back to France to take his job.
 
Can’t believe the Fins have held off so long in re-signing Nikorima. He’s the perfect foil for Katoa. Probably the most naturally talented ball playing half in the comp after Cody Walker, but Nikorima is still very quick, so he can still burn people with his speed

They are replacing him with George Williams, which is a very poor decision imo

Nikorima would be a good stop gap signing for a club that is bringing through a young 5/8, I’d imagine he gets picked up by someone
