2026 Season

How the hell are Penrith still so much better than everyone else, even without Cleary, Yeo and To’o.

I know the Warriors are missing Boyd’s long kicking game, but my god, they’re still a pretty good team everywhere else yet Penrith are still so superior physically. What on earth do they feed them?
Systems and work ethic.

I think their “system” is perfect for Cleary. And their success encourages buy in from those new to the club. I would imagine you would put your body on the line and be physically up for the game and work hard for 80 minutes if you knew that’d win you 80% of games.

I think this particular group have really channeled the community. Very much a low socio economic region of Sydney and many players haven’t really had much for themselves growing up.
I think there’s plenty of stories getting around in the early days of their success with players buying houses for their family etc. with it being the first home that the family has ever owned and stuff like that. I think they realise how lucky they are.

Listening to their CEO there’s almost a bit of a “work hard while you’re here, you’ll have success, get your pay day reward (somewhere else)”.

I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they lock in, win 2026 and 2027 before they say thanks for the memories and disband - I suspect Wallace inherits a Cleary-less team.

Except like the other successful teams they’re still building around a few key players who are priority retains. They’ll lose the Sorenson types like Watson with the Roosters but it won’t cause a big dent in the team.

Ivan leaving won’t change that.

They’ll still be hell bent on retaining their best talent, and probably sussed out with Nathan and maybe other senior players whether Wallace is a guy he would play under.
It's a wonder Ivan Cleary failed at the Tigers but I put that down to the board backing players over the coach like they did with Madge.
Feels like that’s a general consensus now and a given. But am glad the Tigers are better

Couchman there, no attempt to wrap the arm, shoulder directly to the head, no sin bin. So much worse intent wise then KP the other night.
I thought the Piakura high shot on the kicker was also worse.

Don’t understand how a defender falling down in line with a shoulder at waist height could ever be seen as worse than flying in shoulder first at head height.
