2026 Season

The only negative you could say about the Panthers' defence is that the Roosters didn't throw much at it.
Two huge takeaways from the Panthers & Roosters game:
The incredible transformation of Jenkins since his disastrous Knights experience; and
The Panthers total strangulation of opposition teams in the first 3 rounds.
Can they play like this for 2026 season?

Brisbane when they’re “on” are kind of just better at what Melbourne are good at. They get rolling forward better and they have more strike power.

The only club to avoid the 14-0 curse is the Knights of all teams. Twice in 2023 and 2024.

Against the Raiders 2023 and Storm 2024.

Do the Broncos turn into the best defensive unit when they verse Melbourne

Or were Melbourne just awful in attack in the 2nd half

Broncos held onto the ball in the 2nd half, helped a lot

Defensively they were pretty good, both were, just took well timed plays for each to score and the odd bad off foot read in defence

Six again is still a bit of a laugh, didn’t give one for 29 minutes straight in the 2nd half. But several at the start...

Scoreboard pressure.

Broncos had a lot of ball in second half, and they kept it. I think they had more completions in the first 20 minutes of the second half as they did the whole first half.

Translated to points. And once they edged in front with their momentum, put a lot of pressure on Melbourne to execute with their limited chances. And it made them look a bit average tbh. They look great when they are in front. Looked very much in control. But a little momentum swing, and bam, the crumbled.

Madge obviously got them fired up for that one. Will be interesting if they can keep the intensity up.

Penrith have a tough start on paper - Broncos, Sharks, Roosters, Eels, Storm, Bulldogs, Dolphins. They could have a big psychological victory if they can beat all their biggest rivals in the opening 7 rounds, before suffering their first defeat in round 8.

Yep feels a lot like we’re back to peak 2021 momentumball with the six again change. Oh except Penrith who are still just better than everyone & play a pressureball style which other results tell you *isn’t* the way to go about it now.

Ugly scenes at Red Hill. Brigginshaw deserves the recognition, just a shame it comes as a result of the club chastising Tallis.

That said, Tallis has been well out of order with some of his accusations imo.
Tallis has been an absolute muppet with this, but in saying that he has his Kevies back and thats a good mate to have, still a muppet though..
