2026 Recruitment And Retention

Well, he could make a 1000 errors like he usually does.
Now I do like hyperbole as much as the next but the fact remains that is an unknown, based on previous experience but previous experience doesn’t always predict future, as people change and get better, think Bradmans horrible defence at the start of his career to now.

And the fact remains Gagai isn’t playing good

I can't remember what Gags was doing in the preseason, but I do remember Hunt and Young were often training together on the right and Hunt talked about the halves kicking for them and them practising leaping and setting each other up off kicks.

Yep even Toohey is alluding to the fact that Gags form has been poor , he is playing injured & needs a rest

Toohey said Gags has been getting needled during games to play through broken ribs. With all our guns back now, he probably should be rested for a couple of weeks.

The calls for him to be dropped because he hasn’t been doing anything anyways are way over the top though. He didn’t have his best game on the weekend but he still came up with the two biggest tackles of the match. Thought he did the same for us in Vegas against Purdue too.

Harrison Graham signed and upgraded to the top 30 for 2027
One of the great life lessons. If you work hard, you give yourself the best chance to get the result you’re after.

Not long into last week's game gagai was being held up in a tackle by two South players when Latrell came charging in and absolutely smashed him in the ribs. Ive watched the game closely a few times since, gagai was non-existent after that tackle. He avoided runs and support play, and a few times even shot into the space inside Latrell hoping to cut the play off before he had to tackle Latrell (2 direct trys from this). You can see him wincing in pain many times through the game. From memory, all about two tries were from gagai either missing lattrel, or avoiding him by shooting in.
I can only summise that the feeling from holbrook was an injured gagai would still be better than hunt at marking latrell?
Anyway, I'm not bagging him, I can't even imagine the pain he was in and trying to mark that monster of a human with whatever injury/ pain he was in.
I would not be surprised to see him pull out at the last minute this week, but also would not be surprised to see him turn it around and play unreal. Either way, if we are going to have a real crack this year, we need him at center.

Toby Winter I think.
(there has been talk of him training with firstgrade for the rest of the year for a few weeks)
I thought as much to but isn’t there 6 dev spots and I thought he was added after he signed his new contract already so that would mean if I’m right that we now only have 5 spots filled.

Though I’m not extremely familiar with the dev spots so I’m not sure

A bit of karma with Latrell now ruled for the next two weeks due to a back injury.
