2026 Recruitment And Retention

Marzhew has been one of my favourite players, especially in seasons past, but he’s definitely getting picked on now with the kicks. No doubt he does a lot for us in yardage, and gets us out of trouble often with earning penalties.

But if people want Sandon at halfback, he’s the only one to drop as Sharpe is a must in the team.

Brent Read says 4 year deal worth upwards of $2 million.

It's actually quite good.

Latu Fainu got that before even playing NSW Cup.
Jayden Sullivan got that after proving he sucks.
Lachlan Ilias got $700K midway through his first NRL season.
Lewis Dodd got $700K as a mid tier Super League halfback.

Considering the state the club has been in this season, a guy who's proven he's a capable week to week starter in the halves, and who's 22 so actually has real scope to improve and become an $800K player in a few years... that's good business by us.

Is he a halfback? Yes.

Is Dylan Brown a halfback? If he proves himself there, Sandon is just as much a 6 as a 7.

Don't know what the ceiling is at hooker but he plays there too.

I'm very happy about this. I don't think we could have done any better.

Do we even know how Sharpe is going recovery wise? It was a pretty horrific injury, we might not even see him back for round one. Hopefully I'm wrong though

Sandon Smith's starts in the halves (NRL):

28 games
6 tries
15 try assists
9 line breaks
12 line break assists
11 forced drop outs

64 career goals @ 82.05%.

He's not Sam Walker but it's all good stuff for a 22 year old who's only been in an elite team for 5 of those games.

Absolutely sensational news.

Now we get to relax. My bet is we sign a hooker, still totally unconvinced POS plans on playing either Brown or Sharpe at 7. I cant see that happening now that we've got a better 7 coming to the club.

Perhaps POS was using the hooker chat to prevent Smiths price increasing.
