2026 Recruitment And Retention

Marzhew has been one of my favourite players, especially in seasons past, but he’s definitely getting picked on now with the kicks. No doubt he does a lot for us in yardage, and gets us out of trouble often with earning penalties.

But if people want Sandon at halfback, he’s the only one to drop as Sharpe is a must in the team.

I'm completely off Marzhew, other than his carries he's an absolute liability with his hands and under the high ball.

Either chuck him in the forwards or tell him to move on, sick of seeing him get out leaped by every winger.

I’ve been sceptical of some of his signings but Smith got less than 500k a year and Mooney for something similar is good business.

Waiting for something offical though because he was lock to sign with the Cowboys like 3 days ago.
It's been reported in enough places now that I think he must have officially put pen to paper.

I also find him either lazy or not fit enough. He looks gassed all the time and is slow to get back once a break is made. There is no urgency with him

We need Dean Ritchie to roast us with a Christian Welch type sledge like he did with Parra. They haven't lost a game since he did a article about them.

$500k a year is good for Smith considering Brailey was rumoured to be on $750k.

I'd still prefer Smith in the halves. I haven't seen him play hooker but his defensive stats aren't the best.

If he plays 9 I think he will be a crafty 9 which we will need, if we go with Ponga, Brown and Sharpe.

But I think the option to play him at 7 and Sharpe in the centres is the better option. It’s up to the new coach.

He will want to decide pretty quickly to work on combinations.

Had some struggles with consistency this year (not unusual for a 22 year old half) but not in a million years does Cogger or Gamble have a game in them where they look this dangerous, and there's a larger suite of playmaker skills on show here than what we get with Sharpe, who's excelled as a runner, support player and defender, but otherwise had some issues:

Engages the line and creates space. Accurate kicking game (if not a huge boot). Dynamic in open/broken play. Takes advantage of tired forwards with his running game, whether out of dummy half or a pass wide. Has had some very sexy moments like that little grubber for Teddy while being tackled. This is a good footy player IMO.

Also had a great game for them in their finals win over Manly last year.
