2026 Recruitment And Retention

Not a bad result for us. Depth in halves and forwards for the cost of a utility in Jones and a prop with a busted shoulder.
Yeah good business that. Happy for Jones, hope he goes well. Stoked to get Crouch now, he should get a 17 role against Melbourne. We need Hethro for depth this season.

I'll be honest. I've seen about 30 total minutes of TDS this season. Luai makes me want to gouge my eyes out so I don't watch Tigers games. No idea how worried I should be about missing out on him.

Also not sure about entering a bidding war for another spine guy, there's only so much space in the cap. Arthur is very talented and I would like us to keep investing in cheap talent rather than chasing another splashy spine signing. If the club is abandoning the idea of a hooker rotation where Phoenix starts at 9 then moves to lock, and instead playing Phoenix at 13 all game, I feel like it's not *that* hard to find another cheap 9 to play the opening 20-30 mins every game to protect Matthew from early game contact. How many hookers do the Broncos have, about seven? There are a lot of cheap, bang average 9's to go around.

I'm actually disappointed we lost Jones I thought he would've been the perfect 14 could be the run threat from nine or jumping in at centre or wing if we had injuries

If we’re shipping Jones and Bryan, bringing in Crouch and Arthur is coming on a second tier deal, we must have to either be promoting someone tomorrow or another signing is on the way.

POS is quoted saying there is no deals for Elliot and hethro.

He must be seriously going into the market. He has a few million to play with in 2026

Not fussed on TDS at all to be honest. Not a necessity for our squad and I’d rather continue investing in Matt Arthur’s development.

Props on the other hand, give me some of dat.

Riley Jones needs a geographical cure (a fresh start somewhere else).
It was odd that they put him at fullback 2 weeks ago, for the first time in about 3 years, and he ripped in and had 24 runs for 255 metres.
I'd say he was proving something to a new coach.
A coach who really backs RJ will get a lot out of him. I just hope they have a position in mind for him and keep him there.

Someone told me yesterday that Crouch and Cant are related - both Maitland juniors - and now I look at their photos and can't unsee it - they look a bit alike. I can't confirm that on the internet though. Crouch is about 10 cm taller and 10kg heavier.

The case of Riley Jones is a strange one. When he came off the bench a few times in 2023 he did so with both energy and impact. I thought we had found our new 14 but it doesn’t seem that AOB rated him.

Shame for the lad and I hope he kills it in the Shire (just not against us).
Agree - Riley has also been solid in cup in whatever position they played him at. He seemed to be out of favour around the time Arthur was linked. He played most of the junior system at hooker. He does have an error in him but I hope he finds a coach and club at the sharks who values his talent and we will probably come up against him better than ever 🤨
Wouldn’t think Riley Smith would end up here surely? It will be a Silva Smith combo with lussick moving on and Hands as a back up.

Who knows might not be too long before Ciraldo starts looking “tired”
Hopefully not be looking like his ankle against Cronulla in 2009 😱💀

In all seriousness though he does look bloody tired. Gus calling the shots would be stressing him out hard.
