I think it’s more picking fringe players that are in the wrong side of age, Maddinson is a stupid selection. He’s done in a year or 2. With 6 others who are done in a year 2. Pick new younger players, Renshaw was obviously as we saw, a great pick and he’s not old.

But I get it, pick your best 11. But if there’s 1 or 2 spots up for selection DO NOT pick a 35 year old

yeah im super critical of the maddinson selection. He did help us move the game forward in that 2nd dig but it was ugly and could of been out multiple times, like mentioned in that interview there are a number of guys who could of come in and done the same thing.

I’m enjoying this series very much.

However because our current number 3 will not score enough runs against South Africa, I’m already getting excited about looking forward a new number 3 being named to play against the Kiwis.

marnus is a lock at 3 mate. Still the best first drop in the country and is a big part of the succession plan (which i know many people think doesnt really exist) I actually thought he played really positively throughout the match, his looking to score again finally. 2nd knock he was trying to push the game forward and got one that kinda held up on the day 4 wicket, it happens. I think he is every chance to go big this series, batting shouldnt be to difficult in PE in the first innings atleast, should turn a fair bit more than the first test in the 3rd n 4th innings though.

really . Interesting . Im in the il believe it when i see it camp haha. That does align with blooding someone in the home summer which kinda makes sense if you wanna make changes and reports are todd greenburg has instructed curators to take the spicyness out of the wickets to get more days play, i havnt watched enough shield yet but the scores posted over the last week suggest that may be happening. Surely we give marnus a home summer on some flatties to find his magic again

But average of 28 last 3 years? I’d take the risk of blooding a new debutant to do better than 28, hell put Starc at 3! Marnus is old news, granted there is mediocre replacements, I’d still try blood one. Doesn’t work? Bring Marnus back

Competent selectors pick a side that will win a test match, we are winning test matches, literally the best in the world.
Marnus is still the best 3 in the country, they did drop him and he showed straight away how much better he his than the shield players coming through.
Backing him to go big in this series.
