2025 Season

There will be but it won't help the Titans get the 2 points.

It's a joke how Melbourne, Chooks & Penrith get away with things and the calls always go their way.
In addition to all that has been said, the current lot of referees and the people in the box are really poor at what they do, to the point where it is having an effect on the results of games, whether the NRL likes it or not.
It is beyond all aspects of democracy that referees/ officials are a protected species irrespective of what major blunders they make, and are exempt from any accountability.
The NRL has become a joke and is losing credibility with every blunder officials make without being accountable for anything.

Flanagan has outed himself as a Rugby fan.

Last time I watched a Wobblies game they just kicked for goal any chance they could.

This is going that way.

This is just poor from the ARLC

"However, as reported by The Daily Telegraph, the ARLC has introduced a revised clause for the award where cross-code stars with international experience in rugby union are deemed ineligible."

I don't see why they would literally change the rules mid-season to exclude a player. And an NRL rookie is a rookie.

Makes sense, you’re not a rookie if you’ve played international rugby before.

Same as if you come from Super League, technically you’re new to the NRL, but nobody would say Josh Hodgson should have won rookie of the year when he came over to the Raiders, for example.

Think it’s poor form to change it mid season.

I don’t necessarily disagree with the rule itself though.

Would suck for like a Rob Toia who is having a breakout season with limited professional games to lose it to a guy that’s played 58 Super Rugby games for the Waratahs, represented the Wallabies 11 times and been to the Olympics.

Similar I guess to say D Armstrong coming back to the NRL in a few years time after playing a few seasons of ESL and being eligible for Rookie because he’s only played 5 NRL games.

Edit: oops, though eligibility was 6 or 8 games for some reason. Poor example.

Changing the rules mid-season for one player is problematic. Also, he's transitioned from union to NRL in less than one pre-season. He's the exception, not the rule.

Davey Armstrong lost his rookie status at 5 games, so not an issue there. But it's interesting to consider ESL experience.

In the NBA, Luka Doncic and LaMelo Ball came from other leagues to win the NBA Rookie of the Year. IDK that the ESL experience should discount a player. They're not comparable leagues.

Mal Meninga made a good point that the player needs to learn to cope with this, refocus and kick the goal, and I thought Des was very gracious because he's right, it was just a mistake. That said, the trainer should still receive a breach, we don't want to see this during he semis.

The Panthers have a history now of doing stupid stuff like this to get an advantage, no matter what any coach or “commentator” says. According to the laws of the game it would be bringing the game into disrepute.
How many other club officials do these kind of dumb things?

That's the touchie's call, and there's no excuse for being behind the play; he's absolutely missed it. Reggie's next week.

Dogs jumped the shark when they signed the plodding Galvin. Gus does this at every club. They’d be best to get rid of him before he blows the joint up completely.

As fun as it is to pile on Wayne I think Souths are truly playing above their ladder position. Just horror injuries and had no business being in that Broncos game as long as they were. There have been other games like that but yeah.
Even a team like the Tigers despite having less injury issues have looked far better than a wooden spoon team this year.

Even though we lost to them twice this year I wouldn’t have an issue with the Titans winning the spoon. They’ve definitely been the worst team this year even when everyone has been available

Good to see the Tigers win today after all that’s gone on between the two teams.
Hope the Knights watched the game to learn some lessons on “how to get up for a big game”
