2025 Recruitment And Retention

I’ve gotta say, I’ve done a bit of a 180 on this bloke. He’s making me wish we were in a position to compete for his signature.

Helps that he did play very very well this year, I think he’s already proven his point that he was a dominant half playing a smaller role for the benefit of the team. Then he backed it up with a really good game in the grand final.

He talks a good fight HVG, lets see how he goes outside of the Penny's though.

Their roster is still weak for mine.

Would like to see the club draw a line in the sand and say they arent releasing leo under any circumstance for 2025. Let him earn his current wage with us, if his not putting in or form dips (not suggesting it will) then bring him off the bench in ressies all year.

I agree that the Knights should be tougher in these situations, whether true or not I think most Knights fans feel like we were robbed of our best NRLW player in the Upton situation. But I do think the Knights should seriously consider a trade if it adds value, especially to our premiership window which I don't think anyone believes will open next year.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think we should sling Leo a good faith pay increase of 100k or so for 2025.
It would keep him happy to put in for the year and show the rest of the squad that the Knights are fair employers.
Sorry, but we offered him a competitive multi year deal, he just needed to sign with us to get a pay rise for 2025.

I would rather use the money to give a pay rise to player who is committed to playing for the Knights.

Absolutely not. What about the rest of the squad? Should we give them $100k more to keep them happy? Would that even be enough? Giving one player a pay increase for nothing in return is likely to get 29 other players offside. Use it as leverage to extend someone else.

I think the concern, especially as a middle forward is his form may drop off like AFB's did for a good chunk of last season after he signed with the Sharks.

I can see both sides of it, not sure what the club should do, but they must be looking at their options including a 2025 trade.

I'm sorry you took it that way, and for the loss of your mate but the inference wasn't that she commit suicide it's not what the saying means, it was an insult yes.

Yeah, she can fark off essentially.

Leaving for personal reasons if true is one thing, posing for a back home signing photo is something else entirely.

Anyway. On with the show.

I don't think a club has ever given a departing player a pay bump in their final year previously? I've never heard of it personally.

I just disagree with the notion of paying more money for nothing in exchange. It sets an awful precedent that players can phone it in unless the club slings some extra cash their way. Leo either plays in line with his agreement, or he doesn't play at all, and the club could consider releasing him.
