2025 pre season thread

Storm will win it this year.

They were missing NAS for the GF, which was massive for them. This year they've pinched Utoikamanu from the Tigers. Add those two to last years GF and Storm out score them easily imo.

Panthers systems and game strategy aren't indefeasible, their opponents have arguably been under par for the last 4 years. Storm have been rebuilding/shaping, Roosters have been flat for a while now, Eels were never that good. And frankly, the Broncos calved them up and had the game won by half time, if not for a low IQ coach.

The Storm were a couple forwards short of having the field position to beat the Panthers by 12+ points imo

I think the Storm also win this year.

Have the best spine in the competition and added a front rower that I think will be a difference maker for them. Utoikamanu is a potential signing of the year out of everyone.

Also the Storm have the team to beat the Panthers with the style that the Broncos played in 2023 that had Penrith frustrated but have a far better coach.

Gonna be boring a predict it'll be a Storm Panthers grand final again.

I’d like to see Stefano play before I make any prediction. I agree that he has the physical tools to be one of the elite props in the game, and the kind of player you need against Penrith, and you’d expect the Storm to whip him into shape. But I just want to see it first. They have their work cut out for them - his effort level at Wests has been straight up disgraceful more often than not.

Fox Sports write-up of the Sharpe extension with quotes from POS including:
“He is a local Newcastle boy through and through, exactly the type of player and person you can build a Club around and we are delighted he is extending his career with the Newcastle Knights.”

POS gets how this club will get back to the top. ie. We're not going to buy our way out of it.

In other news Francis Molo refusing to train at the Dragons...so expect them to rethink their Lodge offer.
Would be happy for us to take Tonga and halangahu off their hands. They have some good forwards coming through.

They do I like Tonga a lot, but I still can’t believe the Roosters got Fanafou Seve out of nowhere, certainly one that will have people saying “how did the dogs let this one go” in the future.

Yeah Cleary is the one player I don’t think they can do without in those big games. He just doesn’t seem to ever make a mistake. It’s crazy.
His arm and a leg could be hang on by a flap of skin and still boot a 70m field goal and then make a length of the field try saving tackle to win them the game… I hate that guy 🤣

Godamn Obi got a set of IDGAF Balls on him.

Cant to 13 over Elliot is so good. Maitland lad who will give his heart for the club. Love his quick play the balls and aggressive D. Great foot work too

Then also confirming Sharpe to 7 when there will be media out to get him (not that, that matters).

BALLSY! But great moves, rewarding players who buy into the train hard and play hard mentality. Good on him and good on Tommy.

Just read a report from the strictlyfootypod about the knights opposed session today (I think).
-Ponga fb of course.
-Sharpe/Gamble halves
-Schiller taking Sharpe's wing spot.
-Lucas/Frizzel second row.
-Tom Cant at lock. Elliot playing with second team.
-Crossland 9.
KPP not back training yet, I assume?

Sharp to 7 is going to be given 2-3 games by the press and if we aren't winning, they will start the drums beating, not working, have an experienced half we paid good money for in lower grades, last season swapped the halves around and this year starting with a new halves combo etc etc.

It's brave I'll give him that.
