2025 pre season thread

My prediction is that the Knights will be this season's "staff writers" whipping boys if we don't start well. Assuming they even remember there's teams between Brisbane and Sydney.

Parramatta Eels if they struggle to begin the year will also be whipping boys for the media.

Their board and front office currently is as much of a basket case as the Tigers have been in the past.

The Tigers will cop plenty of flak when everyone realises even with Luai they are still a below average side. Dragons roster is terrible and Parra are looking poor too. I think we’re a fair way down in the whipping boys stakes.
Don't see Dragons getting bagged even with their average roster because Flanno is mates with half of the media and journos.

Tigers still a diabolical mess with their current board situation.

I actually think the Tigs are going to go well this year. The players they bought were smart to compliment the talent they already have. Probably short a frf but I see them closing not in the 8 this year.

Not saying I think there’s any truth to the Mole’s scoop but I like the idea of trialing Gamble at 7. IMO he’s got attributes to make a good 7. Very vocal on the field and can at least get some distance on his kicks. He wouldn’t be a great 7 but we’d might as well try him out while the other options are meh. If he works out there it’s also a lot easier to find a good 6 than 7 at the moment.

I think Gamble makes a decent 6 but struggles to be the main man at 7. We had a few games when Hastings went off injured in 2023 and Gamble struggled to move the team around, as a result our 5th plays were scatty to say the least. If this is true, hopefully a pre-season of doing it consistently will see him take it on fully.

Filling in for odd games against playing set position full time is totally different. I’m sure Gamble at 7 would be no worse, hopefully better, than our current crop. Training, trial games and consistent team selection will hopefully work things out.
