Hard to believe, all over in two days, didn’t watch all again, dinner, taped news and current affair, quick switch to catch the score just missing out on Head scoring his century, took me a while to believe it had happened so quick then sat and watched rest but it was virtually all over by then. Big innings by Head, nice contribution by Labs and Smith stealing the show by hitting the winning run.

Feel for Weatherald - got murdered in first innings, and then an unlucky dismissal in the second. To be fair, it’s probably caught behind if it doesn’t hit his helmet. Just made it a bit easier.
Always amuses me when we see Test matches over before Day 3.

Felt more like four t20 games strung together. Do batsmen not know how to bat in test matches anymore? Because the tactic from most seemed to be “have a slog and hope it works”.

I was so happy when Head went out to open. It felt like the right player saying "I've got this". I love the guy. There was a moment I'd like to comment on though amongst all the carnage of bad batting before this. When he was on about 40 he helped a short ball over the deep fine leg fence. It was a good result but cleared the fieldsmen by only about ten metres. To me, it was still a silly shot. He was the first batsmen all match looking somewhat set. If he had gone then, who knows what would have happened? I didn't think he needed to take that particular risk. Felt the same the evening before when Carey guided one in to the hands of deep third man. Why take on a risk that large? Some say that's the way they play. Well then we have to excuse every single dopey shot that cost guys their wickets throughout the match. And there were a lot, starting with Crawley trying to drive a good length ball through the covers in over one of the match. That's how he plays. And it won't work in Australia.

They kept selecting him because they believed he was the right type of player to succeed here. If he doesn’t get some runs during this series then they will not have any reason to keep playing him.

It’s common knowledge in Australia, it’s truely amazing the English team management did not realise their batsmen who come unstuck driving on the up.
I’m wondering how competitive they will be for the rest of the series now. A day night test against Australia and the Gabba is a daunting prospect. Starc will be more difficult to play under lights and Cummins is likely to be available as well.

I would imagine yesterday would be devastating for the English side. I heard Dizzy say this morning that there's a difference between being fearless and being reckless, and that the English batsmen were reckless.

I got the feeling that the squad had their modus operandi set for the series and would be doing not much other that playing golf between tests.
