2025-2026 Summer of Cricket

Great effort from West Indies to hold on for the draw, and score the highest fourth innings score in history (excluding timeless tests).

Just bad luck for NZ when half the bowling attack goes down, nothing in the pitch and the umpire denies two legitimate wickets. Any of those three factors change and I think we win.

Actually happy with the draw, think West Indies could have given it a good nudge in that final session, but they shut up shop. Their batsmen did look exhausted to be fair. Shout out to Jacob Duffy for getting through 60 overs in the test.

Archer was bowling at Glenn McGrath pace in the second innings in Perth. For all their bluster about planning this pace battery for two years.. please. I called 5-0 and it still looks on.
 
Interesting with the debate on international rugby league eligibility the other day that Atkinson getting Carey out was the first English born bowler to take a wicket so far in this series.
 
Am a big fan of Starc, having a big series so far, always thought his batting was under rated, he has given us a big chance to go 2 up without our better attack, am sure that if Cummins and Hazelwood are in with Starc we are so strong and Lyon would be in as it’s always good to have a specialist spin bowler. Expect our attack for next test to be Cummins, Starc, Hazelwood/Boland, Lyon with Green as back up.
Also expect us to bat 1-7 same as this test, cruising!!!!

Baring a recurrence of his injury, Cummins will play in Adelaide but Hazelwood has now suffered an Achilles strain and is unlikely to play until Sydney. But our team will be much stronger with the inclusion of Cummins and Lyon.

Starc’s innings put Australia in a dominant position in this game. It’s very pleasing to see him return to form with the bat.

The English attack was ground down further by Starc and Boland.

England started well in their second innings but they are now being picked off one by one under the lights.

I’m starting to think Hazelwoods days are numbered. His body is betraying him the last few years. It maybe time.

I have an interesting stat.

For only the 3rd time since Ashes test cricket started in 1877, all Australian batters reached double figures in the current test match, it happened previously in 1947/48 versus India and in 1992 versus Sri Lanka. Australia has played 879 test matches.
