2024 Olympics

Jessica Fox, Gold, Gold, ?maybe
Matilda’s tried hard but loss to USA
Some good efforts with a few Silver and Bronze, wanted Shauna Jack to medal for what she had to go through but 5th was a huge effort

Watched the men’s triathlon last night, totally heartbreaking to see Hayden Wilde get overtaken in the final 200 metres or so and get relegated to silver, after having a big lead for pretty much all of the run. 😢
Thought he had it won myself but he just suddenly dropped his pace and winner just strode on, Silver is pretty good though👍

We have 7 golds and the US have 4 in the swimming.
We have never beaten the US as top nation in the swimming.
The US are favourites for at least 2 more and a chance in a few others.
It might come down to if Ariane can beat Ledeke in the 800 metres tomorrow.

More great results with Golds and possibly more to come.
Very pleased for BMX winner (sorry no idea how to spell her name) but her brother serious injury inspired her, and made comeback two years ago to win it, strong person great effort and result also Mcevoy in 50 freestyle dash great perseverance for a justified result

Saya Sakakibara’s story is inspirational, she was knocked unconscious and had to overcome a lasting concussion!

More medals, must admit to surprise Gold in men’s tennis doubles, well done.
Swimming all but done so medals will become scarcer as we move towards more track and field

Most of our goal's in the second week traditionally come from cycling, but we've heard nothing about cycling, so I assume our squad isn't very strong.

So with 4 events left in the swimming we have 7 golds and the US have 6.

Women's 50 freestyle - should be won by the Swedish record holder, but could go to US or Aus if she slips up.

Men's 1500 - We don't have a swimmer in the final - US have 1 outside lane swimmer

Men's 4 x 100 medley relay - US are favourites

Women's 4 x 100 medley relay - Aus are favourites

So it could come down to the last race of the meet - and the last leg swam by that girl who shakes like a leaf before every race.

Every damn event I watch NZ seems to lose the gold to Great Britain!

So it was quite funny to see their gold medal favourite women’s pole vaulter mess up quite badly. She was the only one who didn’t bother jumping any lower heights … then failed on all three attempts on the higher height. Because only 11 managed to clear that height and they need 12 minimum for the final, anyone who cleared the lower height on the first attempt got through, meaning a 20 person final. And she missed out because she thought the lower height wasn’t worth bothering with lol.

Three Kiwis in the final though! I think only one is a medal chance though. Might be worth a 5am wake up to watch though! 😬

I watch the session 7pm then off to bed while taping through the night, early morning walk then breakfast and Olympic Games, it’s like watching it live, even better can fast fwd through the bits don’t want

Has anyone seen any new sports they’ve enjoyed? NZ won gold in Kayak Cross, which just looked like insanity to me. Sorry but not a great sport imo. 😂

But this speed climbing thing is impressive! Even after watching it I have no idea how they get up that wall so fast lol.

Arisa Trew is lovely, it is amazing for her to be able to perform at the highest level at just 14. She could have a long career winning gold medals. Her favourite event was not included in this olympics but will be included in the next.

And all she wants is a pet duck!

And what a humble and natural person to go with it.
