Definitely, there’s been a lot of multiple winners, but nobody with anywhere near that kind of gap between them.nearly 10 years between when gaga won his last one, very impressive stuff this late in his career
Cheers @jamesgould for doing the awards. This place is really easy to run with the way you all contribute ... it's such a friendly caring place to be and I think it's really special, when you compare it to the other 99% hellscape of the internet lol.
That try to me is why I would like to see Sharpe in the middle of the park. He has beaten two origin players pointlessly, not many can do that. And for our NRL team, in the the most lop-sided vote of the awards, your Rookie of the Year is Fletcher Sharpe! At only 20 years of age and seen as cover for fullback, we didn't expect to see much of him in 2024. But he took his chance when Ponga and Armstrong both went down injured, and played so well that by the end of the season he had well and truly cemented a starting wing spot. Here he is scoring an explosive try against the Panthers:
Yeah, astonishing try. In some ways I prefer it to the try of the year also from him. That try to me is why I would like to see Sharpe in the middle of the park. He has beaten two origin players pointlessly, not many can do that.
Yeah, I'd be very happy for Pryce to develop in to that x factor player in the middle of the field too. I think Schiller is going to push very hard for a 3/4 spot, which could affect selections as well. What i will say is, with obi it doesn't matter what the x factor you bring if you don't make your tackles. Neither Sharpe nor Pryce are getting selected over Gamble if their defence doesn't look up to it. I keep thinking back to a moment in the must win Dolphins last round clash this season, where the dolphins created an overlap right in front of me. Sharpe held up on the centre to make him pass to Isako. In that moment Isako looked massive and was at full tilt as he got the ball. My thought was he would force an arms tackle and burst through it. But Sharpe got him in about three strides, hit him with a shoulder and dropped him like a sack of...let's say potatoes. It gives me confidence Sharpe wouldn't look out of place tackling the bigger men.The try of the year is so great just cos it's one I'm sure that Young wouldn't have got.
I do agree that his elusiveness as a 6 could be awesome, but there's alot of potential 6s in the team, so he would have to develop the full skill set.
The most potential at 6 is Sharp or Pryce. I don't care which one we put there, but if Pryce improves enough, we can have both on the field!
Ooooh goosebumps. Well written!Yeah, I'd be very happy for Pryce to develop in to that x factor player in the middle of the field too.
