2024 Draw Discussion

It's very surprising that Penrith don't have a team yet.
I really thought they would get one this offseason.
3 time premiers in the NRL,
Plus what would have to be one of, if not the biggest catchment for female rugby league players.

All of the nrlw girls are not happy with nswrl. They have put a stop to them playing cup hence why our 3 girls have signed on in Qld cup.

Local league stopped them from playing? Cause of contracts or insurances? or both?
Nswrl stopped them. I'm unsure of all the legalities surrounding it. Tay just said she just wanted match fitness and they've blocked them from doing so.

Will be nice to watch a competent team for a change.

It’s funny everything this club bangs on about wanting to be in regards to the men eg tough and gritty, playing for the fans, being the player everyone wants to play with, etc, is all embodied in the women’s team.

The men are nothing like that and aside from maybe the first few years of their existence, never really have been.

Realistically, we lose the grand final last year without Tamika. Something like 18-4 or worse. So in one sense, the women’s team is an echo of the men.

The main difference is, the grit and resilience in the girls’ goal line defence actually put us in a position for Tamika to win it for us when the pressure was lifted and we got into attacking zones. ATM you just can’t imagine the lads being camped in their own end for the opening 20 or so minutes and only conceding once.

We've lost our double premiership winning coach, so they'll probably turn to crap as well ...

Yeah that’s the difference everyone still does their job in the women’s team which allows Tamika to do what she does. The men can’t even do that for KP.

Even when the girls don’t play that well they still find a way to win. The men generally find a way to lose.

When the new coach was announced Tamika said she looked forward to seeing him improve their attack. That is something I don’t think they spent much time on under Ron. Given the limited time they have together that makes sense to concentrate on defence. Plus, just having Tamika was enough to get them points but it is definitely an area they can improve on.

Hopefully the change in coach shouldn’t change things too much because they still have plenty of strong leaders in the playing group.

I reckon the new coach did okay with what he had up there in North Qld.
Think he's the right coach to bring through the emerging talent in lower grades. Been impressed with Evie Jones, she's come a long way in last season. Good ball play, she'd have a bunch of try assist to her this yr and team prob doesn't win many without her.

She'll be an awesome foil for Jesse Southwell in a season or so.

I don't know if she's come a long way, although obviously she is getting better, but last year she was NSW under 19s halfback a year young and got a development deal, and she seemed to have a hand in almost everything in attack last year.
