2023 NRLW Recruitment & Retention Thread

Zoey Parfrement is another one brought down from Brisbane for the HNWP season. Played mostly centre but had one game at second-row. Once again hard to believe we'd be relocating players without intentions of them staying for the NRLW season but Parfrement hasn’t had experience in an NRLW development squad or junior rep sides unlike Jacinta Carter, so could just be a trial without any guarantees.

Haven't heard anything on Simone Karpani yet either, though she may be one of the group of locals who have apparently all signed. She's a helpful utility forward to have but I think another team could probably give her a bigger role.

I don't know the English team well enough to know if the match list for the test match is named in positions, but Georgia Roche is the 14th in the 18 named, which I take to mean she is named as bench hooker/utility.

Jasmin Strange has posted the Knights draw on social media so looks like we can count her in after all. Good signing. Made her debut for the Roosters on the wing but all of her games for us in HNWP were at centre.

She looks a real talent but if she wants to play centre that’s not likely to happen at the Chooks any time soon. Good for both parties.

just said on NBN news that "every game of the NRLW will be live and free on the nine network". I assume it will be on a back channel, but still good.
Also in the paper they say 4 of 5 home games will be undercard games for the mens, so those not going to games can watch the womens and turn over to either NBN or foxtel to watch the mens.

Also means 4/5 home games fans can get out and see the women's team and the men's in one go. How good

I see Saint George has signed Maddison Weatherall.
She was so good in Tarsha Gale for Illawarra in 2018 that I thought she'd be named for Australia.
Knights had Johnson and Kernick in the grandfinal game against Illawarra, and Weatherall just steamrolled over both of them and the rest of the side as well.
Anyway, her record says she got 5 firstgrade games in 2019 and none since.
If she has had some kind of injury or just had a baby or something, and is now coming back, she could be a very good pick up.

Her Instagram would seem to indicate her absence is due to having a baby. The dad is Max Feagai. That’s probably gonna be a talented kid.

Good pick up. She dominated Tarsha Gale for a couple of years & captained NSW in the inaugural U/18 SOO.

Came off the bench for Saints in the 2019 NRLW GF but copped a horrible cut to her knee after only a few minutes. Nasty stuff.
