2022 team

First time poster here but my opinion on the halves debate I would be going hard for Sam walker he could be a great 5/8 outside of Clifford as he would be your game manager while walker gives you your spark give Pearce another year and you would get walker from the roosters after playing about 50 games for them coming from a great system would be massive you could say to him the potential to have most of the Qld spine in a couple of years 1 ponga 6 walker 7 Clifford then add Brailey to that we have a fairly young spine able to grow together but would have enough experience by 2023 to be very good for a long time like storm had with Slater Cronk and Smith
welcome aboard...👋

The way I see it, we don't want to let Pearce go for next next but if someone comes along and offers him a 3 year deal somewhere and Pearce is interested I dont think he will stand in his way, he has been good in helping lift us out of the the spoon years.

If that happens though I think it would be 6 Clune 7 Clifford for 2022, I dont think we run
Hodgeson at FB yet.

If a club offered Pearce a three year deal they’d be mad. He’s getting on in age and evidently slowed down and had a bit of a drop in form towards that back end of the year. While he’s still influential in any team he’s really a year by year proposition now.

It makes sense that if Pearce wants to play beyond next season that his chances of a 2yr plus contract is in ESL, Catalan or whoever. If next season is to be his last he may as well stay with us. What I don’t understand is why sign with us for an extra season and then want to move unless he has had a desire to play in ESL but surely that desire would have been prior to signing our extra season. I think the bottom line might be that he wants to continue playing but not reserve grade.

One thing I didn't realize is how much mileage the old fella has on him. The only players in the game that have played more games are Benji Marshall & Josh Morris, who are both on the verge of retirement. He is a couple years younger than those guys though so it's not as big a deal. But it is definitely time to start figuring out his replacement.

He also has always played a tough, physical brand of footy. Same way he’s played since he was a teenager, only he’s slower now.

Yeah the old high intensity switch has been turned down, I love how old in footy terms is mid 30's. Easy for say a gal to last till 37 ish but a half who needs to be in the moment at all times they are lucky to make 30. Be interesting too see which way the smoke is going, certainly a fire lit re contract. Wish him well but his "old" now.

I do hear, from a man with a beer, that Dylan Pythian is back in town, after his northern adventures. With my limited viewings of him in top and second grades, I thought he possessed plenty of natural talent. Could the Knights kiss and forget? With a full off season to get ready, could he be a useful utility back up? Thoughts?

Looked a class above playing in the local comp this year. developed into a really smart ball player

I can’t bring myself to name Mann. He infuriates me, but we all know he’ll probably be starting lock or something *shudders*. I’d like to see us continue with starting both Saf’s and Klem to keep coming off the bench, I think that just worked and I’d start Barney at lock with Jones in the second row. Jones looks to have more upside than Fitz, is younger and competes on everything that’s where I think Fitz lacks.

18th. Brodie Jones I would make a couple of changes but either way, looking at it its a talented team they just have to play like a team.
