2022 Season

Ronald Griffiths saying his plan for the NRLW season is to revolutionise the women's game and the club is backing him to do that.
I suppose he might as well set his sights high.
If an NRL coach said that it would sound crazy, but the NRLW is still in it's infancy, and it kind of sounds achievable.

Knights announce Caitlin Moran, Emmanita Paki, Shanice Parker, Kiana Takairangi, Tamsin Barber, Tiana Davison & Nicole Nathan as signings

Caitlan Moran is a local and was a marquee signing for the Broncos inaugural NRLW season but injuries have meant she's still yet to debut. She was the NSW & Jillaroos halfback too. Only 25 now, could be great if she's healthy.
Not familiar with the rest. Paki was teammates with Tamika Upton this year for the Capras and her stats look pretty good.

Looking something like this at the moment

1. Upton
2. Parker / Stephens-Daly / Takairangi
3. Teitzel
4. Law
5. Takairangi / Stephens-Daly / Parker
6. J. Southwell
7. Moran
8. Johnston
9. Higgins
10. Boyle
11. Clydsdale
12. Dibb
13. H. Southwell

14. Manzelmann
15. Predebon
16. Simon
17. Karpani

18. Stephens-Daly / Parker / Takairangi
19. Paki
20. Barber
21. Davison
22. Nathan

That means most of the inaugural squad has been cut then. Pretty ruthless, but they didn't win a game.

We have 21 signed and a full squad is 24.
They aren't counting Jesse Southwell, but the NRL would be crazy to knock her back if she makes a name for herself in the Comm games before the season kicks off.
Anyway, we have a couple of spots.

All todays signings other than Moran (half) and Davison (Flanker/number 8 in rugby) are outside backs so I’m guessing the final 2 will be forwards. Very young squad as well.

Pretty unhappy about Pheobe Desmond not being somewhere in the squad. She kept us in games earlier this year.
Yes, I have to agree Dan....she was a great impact player from what I saw in the squad last year, who really lifted the intensity and go forward when she got on the field. I know she is 31 but , as MM's post above states, we have a young squad with a need to add to the forward stocks....she wouldn't let any side down in the forward rotation.

All the confirmed signings so far. J. Southwell needs an exemption but will probably get it. Teitzel or Dibb could play 12 instead

I know she doesn't turn 18 until February next year...just wondering why you think she will probably get it? Is that based on the Joseph Suaalii decision of being cleared to play at 17 or is it something else? (genuine question)

She needs an exemption because she is probably going to the commonwealth games to play RU sevens for Australia and can't join us till after the cut off date. She should get it because it will be great publicity for RL to sign a RU sevens international who has been on TV recently.

As far as I know the exemption is because she's not 18 yet. I said she'll probably get it solely because Gardner seemed confident it wouldn't be an issue a couple of weeks ago.

Paige Parker signed with the Broncos, second confirmed loss.

Jesse Southwell played 1 game at 7 for our NSW cup side. Two weeks before she was in Canada winning Australia's first Union 7s title in a decade, and a week after she played in our NSW cup side she was in France playing 7s again.

This article says the Comm games end August 8th.
I assume she'd need a week or two to get back to Australia, so she should be back in time for the early NRLW games, but not for any pre-season training, not that she'll need any fitness training apart from the training she will be doing for the Comm games.

Just watching the Ron Griffiths interview on NITV again.
He was on with Dragons 5/8 Talitha Fuimaono, and he half jokingly asked her about her contract status, found she was unsigned, and told her she'd look good in red and blue and said they'd talk later.
Sounds like he doesn't miss a chance.

Looking forward to watching this team play, i've only seen a little bit of Jesse Southwell but what a talent she is. She looks to be a step higher than everyone else on the field.
We won't not win a game with that side.

Origin sides are in.
Blues: Yasmin Clydsdale (wing), Kirra Dibb (five-eighth), Millie Boyle (prop), Hannah Southwell (lock), Caitlan Johnston (bench)
QLD: Tamika Upton (fullback), Romy Teitzel (extended bench)

Jesse Southwell has made the rugby 7s side for the Commonwealth games. Article says she is contracted to the Knights still.

I looked at the schedule for Rugby 7s and it's all over 3 days into the games - August 2nd should be her last game.
