2022 Knights Recruitment & Retention Thread

Swapping Klem for Smith would be a win win.
We have too many big forwards and losing big money Klem as a dollar for dollar swap with Smith would still leave us with the money to buy a halfback and 2 smaller forwards.
Klem could be the big forward Melbourne are after.
Smith could play a year at hooker and leave when Brailey comes back.
Everyone wins.

I don't think either of the Safs would want to go - but Klem would be happy to revitalise his career and potentially win a premiership.

Trade the only bloke we have who would walk into the Australian team for a one year rental of Smith? And while we're at it, p*ss off our other starting front rower who happens to be his brother?

Do you really think smith is not equally as good as d saf lol. I would trade an Australian front rower for the NZ hooker any day. Both great players at their respective positions but a hooker is much more valuable than a prop.

The context here is that Saifiti is a club captain on like a 5 year deal, a leader at the club and earmarked here as a huge part of our future. He’s by all reports taken less money out of loyalty to the club.

Smith would be a one year rental.

These are human beings, not collections of stats in a sports computer game. You don’t just tell someone like Daniel “alright, **** off for a year, all you’re worth to us is the hypothetical value we can get from you in a trade”. How committed would you expect him to be when he got back?

Factor in here that Brailey’s injury is one which nowadays has a 5-8 month recovery, meaning he could hypothetically only miss half the season, and it makes even less sense.
 
I read somewhere that Darius Boyd did the same injury a few weeks earlier in the pre-season one year and missed 8 rounds of the season.

Brailey will be hoping to emulate Darius Boyd, who ruptured an Achilles while training with Brisbane in December, 2014, but was back playing by round nine the next season.

I sure hope so. It's the injury that put a big line through my name when coming through the ranks.

Not a chance would i swap Daniel for Smith or anyone else for that matter or Jacob either.

IIRC Jirah Momoisea suffered that same injury during last preseason and returned playing NSW Cup in June before the competition was cancelled for the second time following the delta outbreak.
 
James Segeyaro posted on Instagram a few days ago saying he's secured his first NRL contract since his doping ban.

We could do worse things than throw him a 1 year lifeline with a player option for a second.

It beats rotating Mann or Crossland off the bench and gives us the option to drop Crossland to ressies as first backup half under the assumption he was going to rotate with Randall.
 
A rotation of Randall and Segeyaro would be decent.
Id start Randall then hay Segy come on after 20mins running around tired defenders.

Not much else out there. Far better than Mann at hooker.

It happened around the same date Brailey did his Achilles aswell.. Hopefully his recovery is just as quick
