Of the regular 1st graders, Gavet was strong and Levi and Buhrer went ok. Thought 1-5 went good, Searle looks a possibility, Momoisea runs hard. Russell looked a goer, pity didn’t see more of Saulo. Was very nice to see the telecast, enjoyed but they let them get away a bit at the end. Starling did well against us.
Toby Marks probably deserves a mention. He has been a prolific try scorer through the grades and this year he has done pretty well at fullback, wing, centre and now 5/8. I'm pretty sure he has another year of under 20s if they want to drop him back, and he looks skinny and not up to senior level physically yet, but he has been going good enough I think. Both Marks and Searle need to get stuck into the gym work to be strong enough, but no reason they won't kick on next year.
we lost 32-4 I only watched about 10 minutes. Searle looked good early, and Buhrer seemed to be trying.
Toa, Ticehurst and Talty in. Gavet, Randall and Marks out. Toa starts at fullback and Hoy replaces Marks at 5/8. With any luck we will see the spine of 1 Toa, 6 Hoy, 7 Searle, 9 Huth in the first final for under 20s next week.
Can't believe Rip Taylor has got Wentworthville into the grandfinal. They snuck into the top 8 by winning their last 3 games and have won 3 straight finals to make the grandfinal from 8th spot. Their last loss was 7 games ago when a side made up mostly of our under 20s beat the 12-6.
Yeah, 7th placed Jets/Cronulla v 8th placed Wenty/Parra. Basically, the underdogs have won every game in the finals. Both sides are on a 6 game winning streak and both were lucky to make the 8.
