elvis there are three types of clubs that play in the NRL.

Those that play by the salary cap and finish 12-16.

Those that bend the rules somewhat and finish 5-12,

Those that rort and regularly finish 1-4.

Indeed and it actually works even if you're busted. Bulldogs busted and 2 years later win the Premiership. Storm busted and 2 years later win the Premiership, all on the back of being able to keep the nucleus of a side formed whilst cheating the competition.

Interesting note is that the former Storm recruitment officer ( when they were cheating ) left the Storm and joined ......yep the Roosters , who then made the GF 2 years later. Since stood down for links to Eddie Hayson......there's a lot more to this story

Well obviously we won't be activating the third year

So it's a two year deal 18/19

And he'll turn 34 during his last year.. Probably not the worst deal for us. So long as he can actually play and his form doesn't drop of a cliff he will be great for us

We desperately need players of his type and we've got the money to spend I guess

I just don't get why we wouldn't chase a Jesse Bromwich or an Aaron Woods. It wouldn't cost us much if any more!

Really is a valid point why we wouldn't especially as both are forward leaders already.

The Panthers paid 750k per season over 4 years for Tamou. And Tamou is heading into his prime

Scott is over the hill by 12-18 months already..

I want him here, but I'm sure there are better options?

Maybe Scott brings third parties with him and is cheaper?

I'd say its more to do with Scott knowing its his last big pay day and is willing to come here if it fills his super fund.

Where as trying to Get a Woods etc would be more then just money at this point, they have yrs on there side and want that title and atm will still get huge contracts with clubs able to am for a title.

We aint able to offer that and no matter how much we wish to think in 2yrs we mite be, in 2yrs we are a good chance of still not.

I think that's a pretty reasonable deal in my opinion, still yet to give him the grand tour though so we'll just have to wait and see what eventuates.

our forward pack would def look better with him here. Would just need 1 more forward and id be happy!

8 Scott
9 Levi
10 Dan Saifiti
11 Sione
12 Buhrer
13 Barnett
14 Kostjasyn
15 J.Saifiti
16 Starling?
17 King/Mataora

Yep, that's what I've said before. We are going to struggle attracting players in their prime to come here whilst we are banking spoons and are a bit of a laughing stock. Those players are chasing premierships, their legacy.

We can't offer them much. We need players young and looking to break in to first grade like Ponga, or already 1st grade standard but not good enough to be hunted aggressively by the top teams, or players who are top players, but winding down their careers like Scott.

We are not going to lure a Woods here, or a Taumalolo type players until we get ourselves competitive and can show those players we are building something here, and have at least some hope of making the semi's and vying for a title.

Scott would be an outstanding buy. For his on field experience and performance, and for the knowledge and experience he can pass on to our other young forwards.

Nope we have tupou as a leader past his prime, we don't need two.
Focus on the young boys and we need to focus our attention to a form lock
