100% if would be good if we could have signed Vaughan or Scott or Finucane but the fact we can't even convince Matt Prior to come isn't leaving me with much we will end up with anyone better than Josh Starling. So maybe we chance ourselves on some young guys.

Tyrone May will be a gun player .....

BTW I think we will end up with Ryan Hoffman and I wouldn't be surprised if Sam McKendry comes as well. He nearly came last time and he's not needed at Penrith anymore and is on decent money so I'm sure they'd be happy to let him go. Neither of these guys get me that excited, compared to Scott and Finucane. I haven't heard anything but I just have a feeling ......
He gets long serving allowance so panthers get him for half price

Tyronne Amey has pulled some very impressive numbers in reserve grade for the last few weeks
This week he only played 44 minutes to Josh Kings 68, but had 19 runs for 162 metres to King's 13 runs for 120 metres.

The other 21 year old prop in the part time squad, JTB, has been starting prop for the last 2 weeks (since Paea and Mataora were injured) his metres aren't that impressive, but I think he's made 64 tackles in 2 weeks as starting prop, and has missed 1.

Im a huge fan of Amey... was very suprised he didnt make it into our squad over others that have had there chances and done nothing with it.

I think Amey must have been injured in his first game of reserve grade last year.
He didn't do well in his few games of reserve grade, and wasn't as good when he went back to NYC.
Looks like he is back to his best now - or even better than his previous best.
A firstgrade off season would have been good, but the four young guys they gave one to all deserved it too.

This shows just how badly we need to sign another centre and 2 props.

Hopefully Pauli goes good this yr and Stockwell keeps kicking on thoughout the yr to get a new deal as the options are limited and will come at a big cost to get them here.

Paea, Starling im already crossing off the list... havent given up on Mataora yet but if he hasnt got a nrl game by SOO rds then his gone as well.

I'd be hoping Cooper continues to develop and possibly gets a FG spot on the wing next year.

Our first local product since Aku that actually looks to have some genuine pace and tackle-breaking ability.

I didn't think it was possible but our 2018 side actually looks so much worse if we don't start nabbing signatures. Woods and Bird would be ideal but I don't see either happening.

Well for mine we will have Ponga, Hughes is coming through to fill one centre psotion, we are allegedly in the market for Bird, but if reports are true he wants to play FB exclusively, he will go elsewhere. What concerns me there are not even any whispers about props where we are really short. Time will tell but I have confidence in Mooney and Brown. I would rather sign a top front rower than make do with a Prior etc. I am still disappointed we did not head hunt Paul Vaughan big time. He must have been so frustrated with tricky playing his ..... well tricks with his career.

If we are not including Gagai and Mullen (not yet signed), we still have nearly half of our 2018 not spent i'd say. We could basically add 5 players of rep standard - or 3 real marquee signings.
Young blokes like Lamb, the twins, Ponga and even Barnett, King, Sione etc will all be a hell of a lot better in 2018.

At the time, Vaughan was offered 600k by the Dragons. Most agreed that was overs & it was best for us to just leave it. It probably still is overs, but at this point, if Vaughan were to ask 600k from us now, we'd probably all be in favour of it because there's not much else to choose from.

There would be lucky to be five to players left off contract.

As for young players getting better, someone like Sione is going sideways or backwards at the moment.

The boat has sailed for 2018 unless they make a godfather offer to woods and bird instead of the Moneyball type signings like hoffman

If we were allegedly prepared to offer Scott $7/800,000, Vaughan was worth $700,000. He is reasonably young, strong and highly motivated and a natural leader. His game Sunday was brilliant.

Interesting that Jack Johns and a few others were training with firstgrade today.
Obviously just to give them a taste of NRL training.
Johns looks pretty good. Much bigger than his Dad - very athletic looking, but also has a cool head and reads the play well.
He'd need a lot of gym sessions before he's ready for firstgrade, but I wouldn't mind seeing him in reserve grade soon.

Yeah but lets not rush him along too fast. Some reserves exposure would be good this year.
He's 20 already and has been playing seniors in the Manly district for a few years. Not in the same boat as 18 year olds like Cooper, Starling, McIntyre and Jones.
Having said that, he's pretty skinny and I think he needs to bulk up a lot.

Edit 19 years and 6 months old.
