I've got a theory on this do you think Brown is deliberately holding off getting mediocre or mid range props so he can lock in the Saf boys long term (not share the money he wants for them with others)? Just got me thinking that he is only wanting someone who will make them better not the team. I.E Matt Scott

Toohey was asked about extensions on twitter the other day and said we are in the process of extending guys like the safitis and sione etc, id be giving them nice 5 year deals that are heavily front loaded if the recruitment situation is as dire as it seems atm. Those 3 guys we need here longterm.

Not sure how much I like the idea of front ending contracts, now that they mean nothing. All they have to do is play for the years that pay well, then bail when it goes down.
Well that's the way I understand it could happen anyway?

No one yet that I know of Slots. I'm not saying that these lads would do it either, I just think that it leaves the door open for it to happen. For any team too, not just ours.

This a lagit question??

Tapine for one, Leilua two, tariq three straight away.

It happens at every club almost every yr!
Having a yr to run on a deal and wanting a new one or bigger one opens the door for players to jump across very easy today.

Also due to the previous issues with backended deals... the nrl put a limit on loading contract from or backended!
Im not sure what that limit is, though i believe it is a percentage of the total contract.

Yep, would happily sign none of them watched Pauli in cup on the weekend, uninterested was a fair descritop
Randell is worth more then 100k, his very tough, tallented and has a very say die attitude.... three things i love in a player!!
180k no probs

$85K or park footy for randall, no one else will throw a line in the water for him.

alota we were discussing Turdburg's press release last week about all being rosey in the NRL garden.

No press release yesterday when Club CEO's met with the NRL over salary cap, still no agreement, and the hard question raised with the commissioners, what is the full role of the Chairman and of the CEO. Seems like quite a bit of unrest in NRL HQ and not one question agreed on yesterday, and to boot the RLPA still crusing in the background like a hungry shark.

He will get bites no worries at all.
Fyi get into 2018 contract talk as 85k is below the minimum wage for a nrl play as of 2018. $102,500 is the minimum wage as of January 1

Tom Starling will be our second hooker next year - and maybe our starting hooker in 2019 - and since he has the motor to play 80 minutes - maybe our only hooker.

All released due to being forced to after they got better offers.

What a load of garbage, with BJ he got moved on because he was a fat sook and didn't like being told to loose weight and he got in Tapini's ear to break his contract. Nothing to do with dollars from us neither was staying no matter for how much.

Club could have had them play out their contracts. They were released. Full stop.

There are options for a disgruntled player to walk on a contract but they don't involve moving to another NRL side. I think they call it pulling a Sonny Bill.

Also any notice how BJ is going off the rails at the Raiders? Been junk this year and is making zero effort to get involved.

His got his back up about something.
