2017/2018 Knights Player signing speculation

I have it on good word that a halfback from the u.k superleague has signed with us for 2018 and beyond. The player is a former NRL journeyman but still has plenty of upside.

Whether you choose to believe me or not that is up to you. But the informant is a former roommate of mine when i lived in kotara in 2015 who is currently contracted to the newcastle knights

Think we can fit both of them ( roughly 2mil a yr ) plus signing or re-signing 7-10 players??
Yes the cap mite go up 2mil next yr but the roster also grows from 25 to 30 plus the normal 6 second tier players

They say a third of the cap ($2.3m) is either free ($1m) , Mullen ($750k), Kostjaysn ($250k) or Buhrer ($300k). Lines up well with other reported figures too.

In terms of the big boys I'd say the Broncos and Roosters wouldn't be spending $10m, but they'd be giving $9m a nudge. Must be nice to spend 50% more on players than the strugglers.

That would be 2.5mil plus alone... how can we do that plus sign another 7-10 guys?

Fyi all Brown said was we have a lot of money... in todays game 1mil aint alot.

Ohh and what did i estimate our spending at of the cap... 5.7mil??? Pretty close if u ask me champion :thumbsup:

Easy.

If we're $1m under this year, we're starting $1m under next year too.
Plus $1m 2016 money rolled over
Plus Mullen $750k
Plus cap increase $2m

Take out Ponga's $600k and upgrades for Barnett and Levi and there's still ridiculous room.
 
With Reynolds wanting $800k it really feels like the Dogs will just take Foran, but Des has made horrible recruitment decisions for a couple of years now. Hopefully he stuffs up again. If the Tigers lose Tedesco or Woods they will be a threat to grab him too.

Tigers have signed ben matulino and are going after Shaun Johnson also. Apparently tedesco has signed with the chooks also

U can not roll over the leftovers from this yrs cap into next yrs!! Fact...

U can however front load a players contract of a certain percentage.

And atm we have what 19 signed for 2018?
