In that 2010 Four Nations they refused to select anybody who wasn't playing in their local league. I think Paul Aiton was the only one.
If they select overseas pros plus the cream of their local players, they will be a much better prospect. They were excellent at the 2008 World Cup - would have beaten England if not for some poor refereeing.

Getting real keen for it and so happy 7 have got the rights and showing every game. Will definitely be watching every game. Can see all the Pacific Island nations getting pinged for shoulder chargers every 5 minutes though lol.

KIWI five-eighth versus Kiwi five-eighth - perhaps for the final time.
Manly's Kieran Foran will line up against Wests Tigers star Benji Marshall in a mouth-watering individual contest at Campbelltown Stadium on Monday night.Foran is the player most likely to replace Marshall as New Zealand's five-eighth for the looming World Cup.
"I haven't spoken to Benji, so I'm not too sure what his plans are (for the World Cup)," Foran said."It would be great to have him there but obviously he has a few decisions to make. It would be a loss to lose a player (to rugby) of Benji's calibre. But it is an individual decision for him and he's the only one to make it."
Asked would Marshall succeed in rugby union, Foran said: "Yeah, I think so. He has tremendous skills and is a great player. There is no reason why he couldn't make the transition easy enough."

Tim's Kangaroos will be in a state of unity
TEST coach Tim Sheens has this simple message for anyone who thinks State of Origin rivalry has the potential to tear the Kangaroos apart at the World Cup.
"We're all Australian," Sheens said."Of course there's rivalry when two teams play against each other, whether it be at club or state level, but to suggest that this will divide the Kangaroos is just ridiculous."
Sheens returned home from England last week where he was making final preparations ahead of the end of season tournament.Two days later a report in The Daily Telegraph detailed how the passion that spilled over during Origin could damage Australia's chances at the World Cup.
Sheens said he was disappointed at the suggestion players would not be able to put their Origin allegiances behind them when they came together to play for Australia.It's obviously not been an issue in the last five years given Australia have won all but one game.
"At the end of the year if you're selected to play on a Kangaroo tour in a World Cup, I expect the team to unite as Australians and compete against the other nations not each other," he said."There is no such thing as a Queenslander or a New South Welshman on tour."

TEST coach Tim Sheens has this simple message for anyone who thinks State of Origin rivalry has the potential to tear the Kangaroos apart at the World Cup.

He was the least heralded of the Sydney Roosters' five off-season signings but Sam Moa's stellar performances for the NRL high-flyers are set to earn him a spot in New Zealand's title defence at the Rugby League World Cup.
Moa's arrival from Super League side Hull FC went almost unnoticed amidst the hoopla surrounding Sonny Bill Williams, James Maloney, Michael Jennings and Luke O'Donnell.
But the powerful 26-year-old prop has attracted the interest of Kiwis coach Stephen Kearney after being a major contributor in the Roosters' rise to second spot on the ladder - including bagging his third try in Sunday's 28-12 win over Newcastle.

RUGBY league is promoting the World Cup in England later this year with a player who probably won't even be there.

BENJI Marshall is hoping he can round off his glittering rugby league career with a second World Cup triumph for New Zealand, if given the green light to take part in the tournament in the United Kingdom later this year.
The 28-year-old, who played a starring role in the Kiwis' stunning win over Australia in the 2008 World Cup final in Brisbane, is set to leave the Wests Tigers at the end of the NRL season to take up a career in rugby union.
Although he's yet to agree terms with a Super Rugby team, Marshall will walk away from the joint-venture after requesting an early release from his contract following a dispute over an upgraded agreement he'd hoped would net him $1m a season.
However, Marshall said on Thursday the opportunity to play in one last rugby league tournament for the Kiwis would be something he couldn't to turn down if coach Stephen Kearney came knocking.

Ashton, Tariq and Korbin Sims will play for Fiji in this year's World Cup
Cowboy Ashton Sims, who represented the island country at the last world cup, confirmed North Queensland teammate and brother Tariq and Newcastle's Korbin would join him playing in the black and white at the UK-based tournament.
The trio of NRL brothers all qualify through their mother Jacquline, who was born in Fiji.
"They've all said yes (and) I'd be really excited about that," Ashton said of Tariq and Korbin.
"Playing for Fiji would be great and I know my mum's side of the family will definitely be over the moon.
"They were over the moon when I played for Fiji back in '08, so it's something that we'd cherish as a family and as a brotherhood."
Jarryd Hayne and Akuila Uate played for Fiji alongside Sims at the 2008 tournament and have since stamped themselves genuine NRL superstars along with becoming representative regulars in State of Origin and for Australia.

FIJI has their answer to England's Burgess brothers after the Sims siblings agreed to represent the nation at this year's World Cup.Cowboy Ashton Sims, who represented the island country at the last world cup, confirmed North Queensland teammate and brother Tariq and Newcastle's Korbin would join him playing in the black and white at the UK-based tournament.

I think Linnett has been one of the Better players for the Cowboys this year, I rate him and I think he would combine well with Jimmy...

He has been solid this year but he was better in his first year with us last year. He is a very good defender and last year he was ranked number one in defence with the least amount of missed or ineffective tackles among all the centres in the comp. His percentage was something like 95% tackle efficiency. Very strong runner of the ball and can hit a hole as good as anyone in the comp. Something he does need to work on is passing/setting up his winger better. He does tend to hold onto the ball too much which I'm sure you Knights fans will find out if he is indeed inside McManus lol.

Both capable of finding the try line but by the sounds of it Jimmy may not score as many as he normally would
Don't think Scotland will care where the tries come from though, They may very well be one of those sides who surprise everyone

Yea that side should be very tough to crack in defence if they are indeed put together. Yea just letting you know now before all the rage during the World Cup. Hopefully he does set him up a few times but Linnett does like to keep a hold of the ball.
